  1. That is a beauty, what a classic! Staples look solid but is there rust on the staples? I would say that is probably a 3.5 (VG -) or maybe a 4.0 (VG). Can't wait to see what the actual grade was.
  2. BUT YOU'RE A M*RON SO BUY IT!!! Hilarious! Someone has a pretty good pulse on the nature of the market at the moment.
  3. Patience is a virtue. I am on the sidelines watching this madness.
  4. Did we ever get an answer to what the "Members solved count" is? I just saw it again when looking through a thread and am curious.
  5. Okay, I am about to go on a I am with kav, are we going to let that statement go by without questioning it? Where is the empirical evidence to support the claim that "... a new group of collectors stands by this practice". I highly doubt there is any evidence to support that claim, therefore it is an opinion. I know we are in some new, crazy post modern world where if someone says something it is "true" because truth is a "social construct". But am I to understand that trimming is now acceptable among a new group of collectors? Maybe it is? Maybe I am just old school. But let's not let statements like that go unchallenged. A lot of us old timers were opposed to pressing but most have come around. Pressing at least does not remove pieces from a book. But trimming, really? That is acceptable now??
  6. I was going to grade this but then I looked at the back cover and fell asleep (ha, ha). Given the cover art work, this is one of those books you really need to have in hand to grade properly but based on the scans I would say 9.6.
  7. Another nice, 15 cent Thor! Comics were mean to be read. This book has been read and enjoyed. Evident spine ticks on the front cover, front cover corners are rounded but not too bad. On the back cover there might be some staining, foxing or perhaps just dirt. The bottom left corner of the back cover, is that a crease or a stain? Hard to tell. I would say 5.0 (very good / fine) to maybe a 4.5 (very good +).
  8. I love those old 15 cent Thor books! I could be wrong but it looks like there is some rubbing or colour loss near the top left hand of the front cover. That colour breaking crease on the top right of the cover and the rounded corners hurt it a bit, as does the spine wear. On the back cover it looks like there are three tears on the left hand side plus the wrinkle along the top. Also appears to be some staining on the back cover. Despite all of that, it still looks like a nice, structurally sound book. I would say 4.5 (very good +) to 5.0 (very good / fine).
  9. Never hurts to reach out to friends and family and say "hi". So I just wanted to let Cat Man know his fellow board members are thinking about him.
  10. Yes. Mods, please don't lock this thread.
  11. That presents well. I would grade that as a 3.0 (good / very good).
  12. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully even just posting this might help vent a little. These are tough times and many people are feeling overwhelmed. I would echo what Mitch said, hang in there brother. Try to enjoy Bisbee, I am pretty confident you will figure out the best way to proceed.
  13. Well. I guess my transition into Dementia is going to be smooth. I started reading this thread, thought to myself CGC gift cards make sense and then I saw it, a post in this very thread I made ten years ago saying that same thing. Only then did I realize this was a ten year old thread.
  14. I bought a couple of Silver age ASM books from kobra65 (David). He was great to deal with, packaging of the books was fantastic. I would not hesitate to deal with him again.
  15. I just got to cast the 150th vote. I will let you guess which way I voted
  16. You have to love those old Tales of Suspense books! The right hand side of the front cover is pretty rough with those tears and colour breaking creases. The spine has wear but doesn't appear to be too bad, neither does the back cover. I would say 3.0 (good / very good).
  17. Book looks great. Appears to be a nice solid copy. I would say 5.0 (very good / fine).
  18. My sense is yes, we really did see a drop off after the update and new look. Speaking only for myself, I tended to rarely check out the boards after the change. Eventually you get use to the new look but I really miss several old timers who didn't seem to post anymore after the change
  19. Agreed. The last six months have been tough and I get a sense people are tired. But this forum, and especially the GA thread (where I tend to lurk but not post), is one of my favourite places on here.
