Hey everyone, I recently purchased a copy of JLA #8, and it has an interesting spot on the back cover...it does not appear to impact the gloss, and when I look at it with a loupe it appears to be underneath the dot pattern that makes up the color in this area of the back cover...it does bleed through to the inside of the back cover though. I've seen other books with this type of spot (it's usually blue though), and always thought it looked like someone took a ballpoint pen and made a dot on the back cover that bled a bit. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this type of spot might be? Is it possible it was in the paper before printing? Thanks so much for your responses! Art

I've read the first four books so far, and have the fifth book queued up to read...I absolutely loved the first three books, and the fourth one really grew on me as I read it. Putting this as a spoiler, even though I don't think it is... I totally agree that it would make a great TV or movie series.

Silver age comics that are heating up
silverseeker replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Actually, I think it's only #23 that's seen an upswing... -
I'm also thinking 5.0...just too much wear to grade higher.

7.5...nice book!

I'm thinking 9.2 as well...nice book! Are those rust spots on the bottom staple, or is it just some oxidation?

Hi everyone, I have two CGC-graded Silver Age keys up for sale. I prefer to ship via domestic or international USPS Priority Mail, charge the exact cost for shipping and will cover the cost of insurance. I accept PayPal, checks or money orders. The first gets the book, but I'll also entertain offers via PM. I don't accept returns since these books have been graded by CGC. Please No probies and HOSers, and thanks for looking! Art

Patrick, this is the exact same situation I'm in...I have raw copies of #2-66, but am missing #1... I guess I should be happy I at least have #2-66! An X-Men run is a lot more pricey to complete these days...

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???

They're DCs...that's why... People are just Marvel-crazy right now! -
Agreed...I'd be worried about the spine on the second book holding up...there already appears to be a small spine split at the bottom...

CW's STARGIRL series starring Brec Bassinger (2022)
silverseeker replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Season 2 has been just as entertaining as season 1 so far...definitely my favorite of the CW shows. I do need to check out more of Superman and Lois though...I watched the series premiere and it was pretty good.- 185 replies

Here's a weird one...
silverseeker replied to Hulksdaddy1's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
If the front cover were folded over in this case I would expect the vertical crease to be closer to the spine (closer to where the staples lie). All those transverse creases centered along the horizontal crease lead me to also believe it used to be the original spine, and they were spine stresses. Off the top of my head, I can think of two potential problems if you attempt to correct this issue: The crease that represented the old spine may be weak enough that re-aligning the book will cause it to split in places. You will now have a full horizonal crease to the left of the spine on the back cover. If it were my book I'd leave it alone, look for another copy and then sell this one... Good luck in whatever you decide to do! -
**CLOSED** Trimmed FF issues
silverseeker replied to Robert Doggett's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I totally agree with this, and it would be unfortunate to sell a book as trimmed if it's not indeed trimmed... @Robert Doggett, your photos do a great job of showing the differences in height...how do the books compare in regards to their widths? -
