  1. Still kicking around, and also representing the class of 2007...can't believe it's already been 14 years! I've actually been more active on the boards over the last year or so...
  2. The last book is Tales to Astonish #54, formerly CGC 8.5 - Asking $175 $150. This book also has no graders notes (I think it was graded during a time when graders notes were not captured for a certain grading tier), and it has one interior, production defect - A 1" tear at the centerfold on the left page (please see photo). My guess is that this was either factored into the grade or was not considered because it's a production defect. The label will be included with the book: Back cover scan and photo of the tear: I kept a copy of the scan of the book when it was slabbed as well:
  3. First up is Daredevil #160, formerly CGC 9.6 - This book has jumped up in price over the last two months, and I'm asking $115 $100. There are no graders notes for this book, and the only defect that can't be easily seen in the scan is a tiny nick (about 1/32") at the top left edge of the front cover (it's about 1/2" in from the spine). The label will be included with the book:
  4. Hi everyone, I have two raw, deslabbed books for sale. Those of you who've sold raw books to me in the past know I ask a bunch of questions when I'm interested in a book, and I can say that these books have none of the following defects: Loose or detached staples Rusty staples A loose or detached centerfold Stains Chipping or dents Major creases Any printing defects (printers creases, smudges, etc.) I prefer to ship via domestic or international USPS Priority Mail, charge the exact cost for shipping and will cover the cost of insurance. I accept PayPal, checks or money orders. The first gets the book, but I will also entertain offers via PM. Since these books have been deslabbed I will accept a return or make things right should you not be happy with your purchase for any reason. Please No probies and HOSers, and thanks for looking! Art
  5. The graders were so bothered by the piece out that they mentioned it twice! First time I think I've seen something like this in their grader notes... That's a sweet-looking 3.5...the front cover looks fantastic.
  6. Something about Spidey on this cover always bothered me...he has rubbery legs and looks like he's holding on to an invisible wall with his right hand.
  7. I've looked at this cover hundreds of times before, but never really "looked" at it...two quick observations: Is this going to be a building full of closets? All the heroes look massive compared to the rooms. Is that Rick Jones at the upper left corner of the building? He must have mad climbing skills! I still love this cover though...
  8. Sure! I treated it more like a gamble than an investment, not knowing how things would play out...
  9. Hey Lou, I have not yet looked into the tax implications of this transaction...I only bought 10 shares for a total of $200 and netted $52.10 profit from them, so my tax impact should be minimal.
  10. 3.0, with a shot at 3.5...those creases and tears with spots of paper loss along the spine on the back cover hurt the grade...
  11. I did not have it pressed because I thought CGC would not ding it for a "production" defect...
  12. Crazy how much would have changed in our hobby if they flipped that decision...
  13. I recently submitted an Ultimate Spider-Man #33 (first Ultimate Venom) from the mid 2000s...it was produced with lower-quality paper and had some waviness, and for this reason it was graded 9.4 by CGC (I thought it would grade 9.8, or 9.6 at worst). Shame on me for not keeping up with the current grading environment and assuming it wouldn't get dinged for a production defect...
  14. Being someone who recently dipped his toe into the RallyRd pool after reading about it here, I thought I'd share my first end-to-end experience. Back in March I decided to invest in their X-Men #1 CGC 9.4 that was offered at $20 a share (the book was valued at $240K), figuring the book would only increase in value with all the craziness in the market... Fast forward three months, and the book was bought out at $304K, resulting in a payout of $25.21 a share. I know that X-Men #1 is a bit of an anomaly in today's market, but a 25% return over three months was a pretty nice introduction to fractional ownership of a book. I've seen other books drop in value when subsequent trading windows opened, so this may be a rare "win"...
  15. This comment is the gift that keeps giving...I laughed hard when I first saw it yesterday, and I'm laughing even harder after seeing it again today... That photo is beyond creepy!
  16. 9.0 for me as well, but I suspect the lower right corner of the back cover might drop it to 8.5...nice book!
  17. 7.5 for me as well...is that a crease at the upper left corner of the back cover?
  18. I remember seeing him sitting alone in Artist's Alley at SDCC, probably back in 2007 or 2008...I asked him if he would do a Flash head sketch for me in my sketchbook. He then proceeded to draw a Flash head in the quintessential Infantino style using a ballpoint pen...it's one of the highlights of the convention sketches I've gotten over the years. I do remember him being a bit tired (I think it was toward the end of the day), but I had a great time chatting with him... Back on topic, happy 80th birthday Neal Adams!
  19. Same here for me with X-Men #1...a 6.0 went from $15k to $40k crazy fast!
