  1. I wonder if it was factored into the grade, and am guessing it's allowed on 4.0 book...
  2. I think they all do, and someone drew the chest logo on @Frisco Larson's copy...
  3. Great page quality too! Looks like the interior of a book from the 1980s...
  4. I definitely fall into the "and the rest" camp, as I was never interested in collecting Batman for some reason... When I was a kid in the 70s I absolutely loved Murphy Anderson's work on Hawkman and Mike Sekowsky's work on Justice League of America (I found his funky poses and general style weirdly interesting ), and picked up low-grade copies of a lot of those books. I also loved Carmine Infantino's work on Flash and Gil Kane's work on the Atom (more the early issues for both), so when I got back into collecting in 2000 my goal was to put together the following runs: Atom #1-20 Flash #105-151 (it's a weird stopping point, but I love the cover of #151) Hawkman #1-20 (for some reason I had no interest in getting those last seven issues) Justice League of America #1-38 I also had Green Lantern #1-30 as a goal, but gave up on that a few years ago because it was so tough to find nice copies of these books for some reason. In any case, as much as I love my Silver Age Marvels, my Silver Age DCs are right there with them...
  5. Totally agree...I have both DC and Marvel runs I'm trying to complete. It's turning out to be a lot cheaper to work on my DC runs, especially in the past year!
  6. I totally agree with you and @Sweet Lou 14...a beautiful, high-grade copy of this book ruined by all that text over the logo.
  7. Looks like a great show...so bummed I couldn't make it. Thanks to everyone for sharing pics!
  8. This is also what I would do...no worries about shipping damage or theft, and if there's an issue during slabbing you can get it addressed when you pick up the book.
  9. Hey everyone, I bought a three day pass for this show, but now cannot make it. If anyone is thinking of going and would like to purchase my pass for 50% off ($30 instead of $60) please reach out to me via PM. Thanks! Art
  10. As someone who likes to keep most his books raw I've pondered this exact question, and here's my rationale for not slabbing them now - If I choose to slab them when I want to sell them I won't question whether or not I submitted them during one of CGC's "tight" grading periods because I'll be ready to sell them. If I slab a bunch of books now that I may not sell for 10 years I'll have "slabber's regret" every time I hear of CGC going through a slightly "loose" grading period. From an insurance standpoint I suspect it will be easier to get FMV for slabbed books (versus raw books to which you've assigned grades) should you ever need to file a claim, and I plan to call CIS soon to ask them this exact question since we're in such a crazy market.
  11. That is a beautiful book, and I also think it will beat the Action #1…my gut says it will sell for $3.95-4.25 million…
  12. There is an Original Art sub forum on these boards...maybe you can post there and see what people think?
  13. I don't collect OA beyond convention sketches in my sketchbook, so I'm not sure if the practice of cleaning up OA is accepted or frowned upon... I think I'd just leave it as is unless some of the OA veterans chime in and say it would be acceptable to remove the dots...
  14. The color break from the crease will not be removed by a press, so I don't think a press would help the grade at all...
  15. How bad does it look in context of the entire piece of art? My initial reaction is to say leave it as is, but it would depend on how it looks when viewing the entire piece of art...
  16. For those of us planning to go to this show, it sounds like L.A. is going to start requiring masks indoors for everyone... https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-07-15/l-a-county-will-require-masks-indoors-amid-covid-19-surge
  17. I totally agree...took me a very long time to find a nice copy of this book. Beautiful copy, Patrick!
