  1. By market correction I assume you mean short term? This is a book I see having little long term potential (as I have stated in this thread). It is a good 'flip.' That being said, has anyone ever thought of this scenerio: The television show lasts a few seasons more and then gets 'cut' (for whatever reason; budget, loss of interest, runs its course)... But then a few years later a Walking Dead movie is released. This would cause new interest in the book. Obviously, it may not be sustained as movie 'hype' only lasts for so long (as folks now buying IM #55 will learn). Just one of the many possibilities if 'Hollywood' still has an interest in 'comic book' movies at that point in time. There is no reason to assume they would not, as zombies are a universal theme. I just doubt the long term potential of this book (meaning decades; NOT just a few years). Kind Regards, 'mint' So why would a movie get made if the TV show can't do well enough to sustain interest in your scenario? Re: See Firefly Star Trek X-Files I'm sure there are more, but those come immediately to mind.
  2. Chronologically it was ASM 252. Continuity it would be SW8 ASM #252 was first. Then you had to wait till Secret Wars #8 to find out how it happened. Dan Marvel Age #12 was technically the first appearance of the black suit: link Granted, it just showed sketches of what the new suit might look like, it was published in March of '84. I remember this vividly when it came out (my buddy Alex showed it to me in English class when I was a sophomore in high school), here's the page for those people that have never seen it (which I imagine there are quite a few of).
  3. Melmoth the Wanderer by Charles Maturin. Hella difficult to get used to how the story is written (gobs of mulit-character quotes in one sentence, run-on paragraphs), but once you get past that, it's a really interesting book.
  4. It's been a while since I've scoured the rules, but I always thought it was thirty days. People go out of town, plus this is a holiday week. A lot of people have the entire week off (or even two weeks in my company) . Yeah, but it's whole vague "30 days to complete the transaction" thing. It doesn't actually say 30 days to pay. No? I don't know. That's how I've always understood it, though (30 days for the buyer to pay). IMO, a week is just not enough time (unless you specifically make it clear up front that you need payment immediately, or whatever).

  6. I'll be moving at the end of July, so will be having a couple fundraising threads: 1. Marvel Omnibus thread: Captain America, Daredevil, Fantastic Four Vol 1 & 2, Iron Man Vol 1, Silver Surfer and Tomb of Dracula (I'm moving away from the Omnibus format to concentrate on completing my Masterworks collection). 2. Misc. Pop Culture items: Action figures (including a couple 1978 12" Star Wars figures), trading cards (singles & sealed box), posters, toys, magazines and a boatload of other stuff that you might see at a comic convention. This is stuff I've had for 20+ years and it's just time to go. and if I have time: 3. Comics! I'm going to try to have the first thread up sometime Sunday.
  7. This picture does not do them justice, but here are mine hanging on the living room wall
  8. Had a great transaction with Mr. Revat when he purchased some of my junque quickly....thank you sir!
  9. I'm going to be raising some capital for a big (non-comic related) purchase, so will be putting some books up for sale that I hadn't planned on selling. Most are slabs, but some are not. All of these books were purchased here on the boards except for the ASM #129. Most will be priced right around what I paid for them or lower, but there may be an exception or two. I don't actually remember exactly what I paid for each book, but I should be in the ballpark. Some of these I bought raw and had them slabbed, so that may be factored in. Currently planning to list: Non-Slabs: Amazing Spider-Man 129 (maybe a 4.0-5.0) Amazing Spider-Man 50 (around 4.5) New Mutants 98 (9.4ish) Nyx 2 (9.6ish) Ultimate Spider-Mann (9.4ish) Star Wars 107 (9.4ish) Slabs: Golden Age: Silver Streak 2 (CGC 3.5) Crime SuspenStories 22 (CGC 3.5) Startling Terror Tales 11 (CGC 2.0) - Looks great for the grade Silver Age: Tales of Suspense 92 (CGC 9.2 Old Label - Boston Pedigree) Copper Modern: Miracleman 24 (CGC 9.4 Old Label) Marvel Zombies 5 2nd Print Surfer cover (CGC 9.8) Walking Dead 1 (CGC 9.6)
  10. Sorry for the delay on this one - had some personal things come up and was delayed. I have completed scanning, however, and have actually begun scanning into the next batch, so this one may have a few more books than the last sale. This upcoming sale will include at least the following modern runs/titles: Iron Man, Magneto, Marvel, Mighty Avengers, Mutant X, Namor, New Avengers, New Excalibur, New Mutants, New Warriors, New X-Men, Official Handbook Marvel Universe, Onslaught, Peter Parker, Power Pack, Runaways, Sabretooth, Secret Invasion, Secret War, She-Hulk, Silver Surfer, 1602, Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Squadron Supreme, Supreme Power, Thor, Uncanny X-Men. I may also get into these during this round, depending on how things go. Uncanny X-Men, Venom, Warlock, Weapon X, Web of Spider-Man, What-If, Wolverine, World War Hulk. The last round of this dollar-book sale (which I hope to get to by the beginning of April or so, will include the following titles: What-If, Wolverine, World War Hulk, X-Factor, X-Force, X-Man, X-Men, X-Men Adventures - Young X-Men, Ultimate Marvel Titles, DC, Independents, Trade Paperbacks. Finally, I will have a listing for any non-dollar books from this collection at competitive pricing. Some good modern stuff in this lot (probably will be 300-400 books, I think).
  11. Yep. I believe it's two weeks. Once a post hits the 14 day mark, it's uneditable.
  12. Just finishing up the scanning for the 2nd of 4 installments of 4500 Modern Marvel books. The first one went quickly and I expect this one to go the same way. I hope to start listing mid-week - (next weekend at the latest, depending on how the scanning goes and my Dad's birthday plans).
  13. Dang it....now I need to know what happens with the mirror! If anyone can PM me what issue this story is in, I'd be appreciative. Here is the complete story. It appeared in Suspense #27. Outstanding! Thank you! "Yes I'll use that formula I translated from the hieroglyphics on the pyramids of Egypt!" - Because he just had it laying around just in case There's so much wrong with the dialog and plots of old stories like this that to try and improve upon them or update them to a more modern feel would totally wreck the mood. Much obliged!

  15. I actually have good luck listing Mon-Thurs during the day (people at work perusing, I would guess). And if Foolkiller or cd4ever have a shindig happening, forget about it.
  16. that figures! I'm the one next on the list for your sweeeeeet recreation! At least you weren't the one immediately following Pirate's commission of the 101 Dalmations poster. I think Matt had the yips for months after that one
  17. If you were a football player, I'd say you were big-timing us...but since mine is done now, I'm all good.
  18. Annihilus's Modern Filler sale... I'll be having the first of four large-ish Marvel modern sales starting soon (maybe this weekend). I picked up a 15 longbox collection a while back and have filled a ton of holes in my modern runs, but there are still a bunch left (4000 or so), so I'll be having a dollar-bin sale here before moving the remainder elsewhere. I'm not going to have one big, unwieldy sale. There will be four sales (approx four long boxes per sale) spread out over the next couple of months. This will be a true 'dollar bin' sale just like at the comic shops. There will be scans for every book. What you see is what you get, and you get to see everything! Needless to say, my scanner has been working overtime. These books are pretty nice overall. Probably not many 9.8's, but most are at least 9.0's from what I've seen. The biggest problem with many is a slight stacking curl from being stored without bags/boards, but most of these look untouched otherwise. The curls could probably be fixed with a good bag/board (or most certainly a press, if that's your thing). The stock includes most major Marvel titles in the 2000-2008 time range. Large runs of the 'Vol. 2' series after the Marvel 'Heroes Reborn' reboot (the series that eventually re-numbered back to the original numbering). A lot of books I've never seen, mostly because I wasn't collecting from 1997- 2005. 3 or 4 boxes of X-Books. Stay tuned!
  19. Depends... I thought the unwritten rule-of-thumb was no more than three threads at any time, and even then only if the items in each thread were sufficiently different from the other(s) as to warrant being on their own. For example, selling a high-grade AF#15 in one thread and a bunch of junk SA/BA readers in a separate thread would be fine by me. However, selling three commonplace books in three different threads would be a waste of front-page real estate... Actually, I don't think that's ever been accepted practice (at least, I don't do it). I thought you were only supposed to have one sales thread per forum on the front page (i.e.: one modern thread, one mixed thread and one GA/SA/BA thread. Once your thread drops off the front page, you could start another one. That's how I always thought it was supposed to work.
  20. My understanding is that it includes PM transactions. Further, I think any transaction with a basis here is eligible (the genesis for a number of complaints against Russ/Comic Supply...you advertise here, drive people to your site then rip them off). Correct on all counts!
