  1. "You'd have better luck picking up the clean end of a turd"
  2. Oh man, that is just too cool! Totally geeking out over here
  3. None of the other 'sloppy' storytelling devices bug me, but the whole daylight/darkness thing bugs the mess out of me...but that particular one is not unique to TWD; Studios (movie AND TV) do this all the time - I know I've noticed it dozens of times in other shows and movies. I mean, I get why they did it (they needed darkness for the lake of fire, which followed shortly thereafter), but it certainly could've been done more subtly than it was.
  4. Once in a while, like last night watching the Flash, I think to myself "Holy mess it's a pretty nice time to be a comic fan" The things they are doing with the TV shows and movies these days are just fun as hell. Not only with the great stories and effects, but building shared universes and having crossovers everywhere. Both DC and Marvel have really stepped up their games in the past decade in this area. Mostly Marvel with the movies and DC with the TV series, but those Marvel Netflix series are crazy good too. And DC had the Batman trilogy. Before Arrow came along, I really had no interest in DC whatsoever. I had what could be termed 'general knowledge' about the characters and stuff, but didn't really care. That has since changed with the TV universe. I'm sure it will impact my wallet via comics too, someday.
  5. He was great in LOST. He was also pretty awesome in Justified...probably my favorite role of his so far.
  6. As far as I'm concerned, Snart is the highlight of the show....I think he could carry his own series if they could figure out a way to do it. He's got a depth of character that nobody else has on the show. He was a very bright spot on the Flash as well.
  7. Man, that's such a bad move. The show is so much better without her on it.I loved the first half of season two. My expectations have diminished quite a bit now.
  8. Amazing how differently people are seeing this. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
  9. Zoom seems super creepy and an awesome villain. Not being a DC guy, is the TV character similar to the one in the comics?
  10. Yep. I finished Season 1 but think I'll let Gotham go. Too much quality fare out there to force feed on crud. The last few S1 episodes I fast-forwarded through any Fish scenes because I didn't care at all what happened to her character. And the rest was a muddy mess. One scene they're on cell phones, the next scene looks like 1930's complete with tommy guns and fedoras. I know Gotham gets good ratings, but it's for somebody else. You know that Fish is gone, right? This season is MUCH better, IMO. I like what they're doing with Penguin and Riddler.
  11. I haven't yet watched, but if it's anything close to Bubba Ho-Tep in quality, I'm on board.
  12. Of course not, , he's just moved on to Quantico. I feel bad for the guy. Quantico is just awful. Still loving Flash though. I think my being a huge Marvel fan over the years has helped me enjoy these CW shows without getting all hung up on the characters differences from the comics. I know the bare minimum about DC characters, so it's (mostly) all new to me. I think this show may get way convoluted down the line (tends to happen when time travel is introduced to a story), but that's fine with me.
  13. Cannot WAIT for this one. The comics were fantastic, even though I was pretty late to that party (just read them earlier this year).
  14. Getting rid of Fish was a great step. Season two has been really entertaining, in my opinion. That scene of Penguin shot in profile screaming was fantastic.
  15. I plan on listing my entire collection of Marvel Masterworks (marbled variant covers) starting in the next week or two. My original plan years ago was to amass the entire set, but as you all know, priorities and focuses change, so they need to go. I have 98 of them, so there are a pretty good chunk of nice volumes in there, many of them still sealed. The run goes from 1 up to 203 with a few 'rares' in there. I'll be listing them individually (within the same thread, obviously), so anyone interested will have a chance to pick up a volume or two.
  16. What!?!?! I loved the character and he did the junior Joker pretty well, in my opinion. + 1 And I would think there are many others like appreciated his performance. I thought so too. It wouldn't shock me if they somehow brought him back 'from the dead' eventually. Here is my reasoning: When I was thinking about it, I figured there was one of two ways to go: Jerome either was or was NOT the Joker (duh). In my opinion, he was the perfect young Joker for TV; So if that were the case, when they cast for the character they chose him for what are, to me, obvious reasons. However.... The flip side is...what if he ISN'T the eventual Joker? That would mean that whomever is doing the casting already had tagged a different actor to be the Joker. Someone who is more 'Joker-ey' than Jerome was. A better fit. I dunno, I'm not seeing a better fit, but that's just me. If their intention is to simply use Jerome as a catalyst for a different actor to pick up the role....who gets that role? Or is it something they ignore until the very end of the series? Straw man - they don't have to have cast the joker at all. We all know the Joker's back story has a lot of mystery. Not to mention, Batman himself has a significant part in creating the Joker (it's a big part of his inner conflict and assessment of his greatest failures). I suspect they'll use a few of these character types over the seasons to tease the Joker's spirit without any of them being the actual Joker. That's pretty much exactly what I was referring to about 'waiting until the end of the series'. I could see the last episode being the emergence of Bats and The Joker. That's a definite real possibility, IMO. Of course the show would have to run for quite a while to get to that point. However, I think that there is a good chance that it is NOT a straw man. In fact, I think it's probably not. I think that we'll see the Joker eventually, whomever it may be. Still wouldn't surprise me to see Jerome come back, though.

  18. This is good news. Would've been great news if it wasn't Starz.
  19. Where are the comics? He sold them all to me for pennies on the dollars! Well, if that's true.....then it would be a non-comics room. And, thusly, off topic to this thread. They're there alright - just hidden within anal-retentive organization. I've got some on the bookshelves in magazine holders, along with my slabs (which you can see because of the glare) and the rest are tucked inside that 3-drawer ivory cabinet on the left. My sentimental prides and joys are up on the wall by my desk - a X-men 94 I got signed by Chris Claremont in 1993 when I was in college and my X-men #1 that was part of my comic shop stock back in 1996. I suspect that entire room has been photoshopped from something like this: Ramshackle by Andy Brown (mrbuk1)

  21. Yeah, that's a great comic room, Balls. Awesome. Where are the comics?
  22. I was inspired to pick up my pencil for the first time in years when reading the Dynamic 8 thread in Gold last week. It's not a cover recreation, really...I just drew the guy holding the candle. Haven't yet decided if I'm going to ink it yet (or color it), but I drew it on watercolor paper, so I still have the option if I get brave. It's not perfect, but I guess it could be worse.
