  1. Last time I had a sale thread, I was able to edit the first post for two weeks...so I think that's what it's set at now.
  2. Sold some krud to Brian and he paid quite promptly! Thanks much and hope to do business with you again
  3. I would have to know something more specific about the buyer....but IMO I would think that there would be situations where you would absolutely be justified in not selling to that specific buyer. Otherwise, we'd just be supporting dishonesty and subterfuge. I understand that but then again, this could be another gray-area issue. Some may support going through with the sale, and some may flame up about it. DR.X Oh it would definitely be a case-by-case basis for me and depend on who the seller was and what they had done in the past. For example, if DR.FRANKENSTEIN/AKA WALDO-JOHNSON and whoever else he has been created another alt and was found out, I certainly wouldn't sell to him even if he had picked up the entirety of my sales thread. I'm just speaking for myself though - I can't really dictate other sellers policies. However, how other sellers deal with buyers certainly dictates to me those that I will and will not deal with, regardless of the 'good deals' they might offer on whatever books they are selling.

  5. I've never seen packaging like DR.X. I'd expect some high grade GA books to be packed like that, but not dollar books. All the same - great guy to deal with, great books at good prices and packing like no other. Thanks!
  6. Did you get the 205? That one is sweet. Actually they all are, but I really like the 205.
  7. I know Matt is busy busting these out, so decided to mess around with a collage. Nothing fancy, but kind of cool to see all of these in one place
  8. I've taken quite a few books in his sales thread (which is still running, as far as I am aware), but haven't yet been invoiced. I'll be watching this situation closely - thanks for the head's up, Brian.
  9. I'm going to be having several "Annihilus Is Broke Extravaganzas" over the next three months due to all the money I've spent around here lately. Basically I'm going to be selling anything that's not nailed down (i.e.: stuff I'm not keeping) and there will be a wide variety of krud for you to laugh at: silver, copper, bronze, moderns, books, hardcovers, vintage scifi paperbacks, trade paperbacks, ratty old pulps, magazines. You name it, it'll probably be floating around in one of my sales threads. They will be long threads (marathons, not sprints: though probably not Rupp in size ) and I'll try to end each at the end of each month - making the December thread a bit shorter than the next couple. I will endeavor to list several items each day. I hope to start the December thread today!
  10. It's already been done (basically). I was turned onto this book in the GA forum and have nothing to do with this eBay listing - but would highly recommend it to anyone interested. I think the guy only has a few left.
  11. Hey, thats pretty good. I like the progression shots. Kinda reminds me, in some weird way of Robert Crumbs work. Not entirely, just hints of him. I like it. I was thinking the exact same thing before I even saw your comment! Good stuff. Love the Rocketeer too, Rich.
  12. I'll be listing a short box of (Non-Marbelized cover) Marvel Masterworks in the next couple days. I've decided to chase a complete run of the marble covers, so won't have any place for these ones. All are NM, so great books! Golden Age Marvel Comics Vol 2 (5-8) SA Captain Marvel Vol 1 SA Sub Mariner Vol 2 Fantastic Four Vol 10 X-Men Vol 5 Journey Into Mystery 83-100 (Comicraft cover) SA Daredevil Vol 1 (Comicraft cover) SA Daredevil Vol 2 (Comicraft cover) Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 (Comicraft cover) SA Tales To Astonish Vol 1 (1-10) SA Tales of Suspense Vol 1 (1-10)
  13. This is what we do. Besides, Pokemon was so three years ago.
  14. I'm thinking about ordering a halloweenized commission of a certain piece of Michael Golden art once your time frees up.
  15. - Mine does too....I can see how it was missed in quality control. I wonder how rare it actually is?
  16. Apparently there is. I just Googled it and found "on a page halfway through the first book, some strange colorist put an "eightball" symbol on a bald villains forehead and a on Bucky" I'll have to flip through it and see.
  17. I've been to those stores too as well as the one in Flagstaff - the Tucson stores (particularly on Grant and Speedway) have it all over the other ones I've been to. Their selection is great (especially if you live close enough to go every couple days - cuz some of the stuff sells fast because it is priced so low). I can't tell you how many scores I've had in the two aforementioned Tucson locations. Probably my best get there was a Captain America 109 (Fine-ish condition) for .75 last year! That's pretty rare as far as comic finds go, though. Plus they have Greyhounds in there about once a month (the Tucson Greyhound rescue league)
  18. No - I never had that kind of luck with Half Price Books (when I lived up in MN). They don't have any stores in Tucson either, unfortunately. It's an AZ chain (I think) who's business model is very similar to HPB (Bookman's - I'm sure you're familiar with them). You have to be patient though, because if you take in too many comics, they'll tell you they can't buy that many. A short box at a time is about right. If you showed up with two thousand comics, they'd probably turn you away (in my experience). I did make the trek up to HPB in Phoenix once and their store was very unimpressive compared to the ones up in the Minneapolis area (poor selection, worse service). I haven't been back since.
  19. Man, looks like they pay well (on trade). Great Haul. I've put together literal boxes full of nice almost new and useful books (requiring a dolly to roll in), and get back like 13 dollars in trade and they refuse to itemize (so I never know which are worthless or how much I'm getting per each). They do pay well in trade (but not in cash - they give out about 25% of their trade value in cash) - probably the best of any used bookstore I've ever visited anywhere. They pay a flat .25 each for any comics, so I usually take in a box of a couple hundred drek books and get $50 for 'em - which pays for two hardcovers (a trade I'll make all day long). The only thing they've ever rejected is 90's Image krud, which even they know is worthless - The thing is to be prepared and have a bunch of trade credit in hand for when they get in a batch of great stuff (like the hardcovers I got over the weekend) that way you don't have to run back home to get your box of stuff to take in (which I had to do since they had a good stack of stuff I wanted).
  20. I assembled a box of old books sitting unread in a box in my garage along with a short box of quarter bin comics in my closet down to the local used book store this weekend to get some in-store credit and came home with the following hardcovers below and a credit slip for $4.25 that was left over. Needless to say I was happy with the exchange
  21. You don't get to request anything for like twenty five years.
  22. Now, normally I wouldn't care a whole lot given the low dollar amount and such, but the message above was followed by He's a new user and I was going to discuss with him how things worked here in the forum marketplace, but since he removed himself from the PM thread, I'll bring it up here as a warning to other members (and him, if he's still here, which I kind of doubt). Reneging on a deal is one thing, then snubbing the communication is just rude, IMO. If you fellas feel he's eligible, let me know and I'll provide his name. *EDIT: It just got better. He made a post today in the 'What's new in your collection' thread in the SA forum of some stuff he picked up over the weekend. This was posted 3.5 hours after his PM to me. Maybe he lost his job Monday or this morning, but color me dubious. i just explained to annihilus why what happened happened. im not trying to kiss and get off the probation list, just want to explain that i meant no rudeness by deleting the conversation, i was just clearing out the old messages and didnt know it would remove the conversation entirely. im still new here and am still learning how everything works and i guess i learned what happens when you delete a conversation youre in the middle of. there were two other members that i had to back out of a transaction and if you two happen to see this than i am sorry and meant no harm by deleting the messages. as i just told annihilus, i got some extra cash and can pay for the books so if you two are still wanting to sell, pm me and well work out the deal. once again, im not trying to get off the probation list, im just holding myself accountable for my actions and admitting i was wrong to delete the messages before i heard back from the members. EDIT: if anyone on here feels i should be on the list then add me. ill be more than glad to take responsibility for my actions and take the punishment like a man. Good for you to respond to this. I actually was the one who asked about references in your other sales thread. Kudos to you for honestly mentioning that you had to bail on a couple of transactions. However, that was sufficient to frighten me completely off the thread. If you want to be able to buy and sell here, you must be as good as your word and honor any committments you make. It is not the responsibility of the other boardies you reneged upon to PM you and set things right. This falls to you for failing to live up to your end previously. After 30 days, any of the problem deals are eligible to have you placed on the probation list (which will handicap any future sales you attempt as folks have long memories for folks and their actions even after removal from the list). I would suggest contacting all the prior parties yourself and attempting to reconcile any previously outstanding deals. Good luck, and as I mentioned honesty admitting the problem and taking steps to correct it is an admirable start. Words of wisdom After communicating with excelsior1986, we are good as far as I'm concerned. One final thing though - I would highly recommend getting a Paypal account due to the fact that it's likely that about 80% of the board will not deal with you if you do not have one. Best of luck to you in future dealings (Not you, Heath - you can eat *spoon*)
