  1. I hate when the prices disappear I agree with the pictures comment. The only time I remove pictures in my listings is to clean them up, but I only do that when the buyer has quoted the post and the pictures appear in the quote. I never remove them from Photobucket. Hell, I've got pictures up there from four years ago However, if you're purchasing a big ticket book or are concerned with the seller's reputation, a good backup plan is to right click and save the scan of the book you're buying before they remove the picture. Then you've got a permanent copy to refer to.
  2. Well, it can only be a clearinghouse if the item sells, right? I'm always very tempted to post a WTF in the thread, but thankfully have been able to restrain myself from doing so. I also refrain from posting in dead sales threads where the seller seems clueless why their highly overpriced/overgraded items aren't moving. If it were me, I'd want to know about it....a PM would be perfectly acceptable to me. However, I get the distinct impression that not everyone is the same in this regard.
  3. Nothing melts me faster than a contrite heart.... 'cept maybe tears. Doesn't matter how mad I am at you, or what you did, if you bust out the waterworks, I'll forgive anything. Even Rob Liefeld art? That's forgiveness on a divine scale.
  4. I'm really glad to see this actually, that will mean that I have had 100% positive experiences buying and selling here. Don't sweat everyone giving you a hard time, ffxmen, it happens to all of us. Thanks for stepping up. You won't regret it, this is a great place to get sweet books and an even better place to hang out and talk shop with friends...and it's tough to do that when you're on the probation list.
  5. Happy to! Just remember to pay some of that anthrax books forward some day
  6. Thanks to the following forumites for some fun stuff I got in the mail: Comic Book Guy for the signed Darwyn Cooke promo - very cool! LloydJBailey for a couple of Surfer books to help fill my run Spirit Radio for a nice box of stuff from his sales thread. It was a pleasure dealing with all of you! And also big kudos to the following wonderful folks that purchased from my DC sales thread: arzach42 Avalon CJ Hillbill nocutename sakaridis (super repeat customer from across the pond!) Snake Eyes whine49er (super repeat customer!) Sorry if I missed anyone - it's been a busy couple weeks
  7. I just came into a 2000+ book collection of moderns, equally represented by Marvel, DC and Independents - titles are pretty across the board with quite a few nice runs. I've got 20 some odd short boxes, one longbox and a big tote to sort and alphabetize, and unfortunately the previous owner saw no reason to place them in any kind of order, so it's taking a while to organize - I hope to have it done in the next week or so because my back is killing me. There is some of the requisite drek in here, but surprisingly very little of the early Image (maybe 10 books total that I've run across so far). Most of the drekky stuff is stuff you don't see around that often, so even that may be of some interest, who knows? The good news is that most are pretty sharp 9.0 and above, many appear unread. Some of the older 80's stuff is F/VF and there are exceptions here and there which I will try to note as I list. Some titles include: New Avengers, a big run of House of M and affiliated crossovers, some Ennis Punishers, lots of X-Titles, a very large run of Wolverine (most of the first series from what I can see and a number of the second series), Superman/Batman, Green Lanterns, Spawn, assorted mini-series, a big chunk of Dark Horse Conan, a big run of TMNT, a bunch of Deadworld and Walking Dead and a whole shartpot of other stuff. I haven't yet decided how I'm going to move this stuff yet, but it'll likely be in my usual kamikaze quick and furious listing style with hugely discounted lots rather than singling the books out. For those of you who have bought from me before, I think you'll like a bunch of this stuff. I hope to get going in the next week or so, just wanted to fire a warning shot here first!
  8. Yeah, in this case the dude basically stated flat out that he wasn't paying. That pretty much voids the 30 day grace period, IMO. But I'm good either way, which is why I asked earlier.
  9. Speaking of Kathryn, thanks for the Preacher TPBs, started reading them already and the story is as good as I remembered
  10. My first post here in this thread after probably hundreds of transactions New user ffxmen14 hit the on four lots in my last sales thread and when I sent him the invoice, this was his reply: I looked through all of his posts to see who may have screwed him, but could find no evidence of foul play. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I replied: This was on April 9th and he has yet to reply, so my guess is that he's either left the boards as he indicated or is just simply ignoring the situation and moving forward. If so, it's really too bad that he's willing to trash his reputation in the community and lose a valuable resource in the Buying/Selling forum over a $23 transaction.
  11. You could use the teapot for fondue if you apply heat to it while it is in a pan.
  12. I seriously don't even want to know It means "useless." Here I was thinking it had something to do with the Human Centipede. On reflection, that wouldn't have made much sense.
  13. Out the person in the Probation Discussion Thread, so other people can avoid dealing with him till: a) he gets added to the probation list or b) he resolves the matter with you Oh is that how it works? I thought we were supposed to give them 30 days to make good before naming names? Not if he's already bailed...the 30-day thing is more of a "courtesy" waiting period for folks that claim the check's in the mail, I'll get it out next week, you should have received it by now, etc.,. Gotcha, makes total sense. I'm lucky I haven't had to deal with this before in my three years here. He hasn't yet read my reply telling him of the ramifications of bailing. Once he does and if he's still bailing, I'll note it in the discussion thread. Hopefully he'll turn it around Thx folks!

  15. Yeah, well...we know it's not you because you're not even paying for your stuff.
  16. Speaking of newbs, I've got one that wants to back out of several 's he posted in my sales thread because he "doesn't want to get ripped off". Sigh. 30 day countdown begins today.
  17. Thanks to Fastballspecial for three moar books towards completing my Walking Dead run. Oh yeah, the free Heroes, Inc. was awesome too
  18. Can't get to Photobucket right now. Patience is a virue. Cracks my azz up every time I see it
  19. Ups of the giant variety to the following purchasers of my drek, many of them repeat customers: 3319comics Chuck Gower cloudofwit Fireboy fraxs inconceivable joecgcmaniac Marvel25th Mr.Bones shortstack comics Silent Master Spider-Slayer whine49er LloydJBailey (for a fine trade) Spirit Radio (for a fine trade) Hope to see you all soon in my upcoming DC sale!
  20. I think its an important piece of information that is irrevocably lost and that is sad. If this place wanted to be a regarded as a serious selling forum that affects market pricing it should be known. It would be nice if it was recorded here in a searchable database, both raw and third party graded, available for both browsing and for GPA to record if they want. I would prefer to know the final selling price and NOT necessarily the buyer if he/she wants to hide that so it shouldn't be a big issue with the buyer Interesting. I like where you're going with this. I do wish GPA made use of sales data from these forums. So many graded comics change hands here every day, it'd boost their database in a wonderful way. Including the sales in these forums into GPA would really dirty up the data there... Think about it...a seller could easily go back and modify the amount in the sales thread (up or down) to manipulate the price (for whatever reason)...Also, there is no verification that the actual sale was completed. Neither is there on eBay to be honest. That's actually a very good point.

That would be nice, but from an administrative point of view it would be a.) a nightmare and b.) easy to manipulate. But all of that aside, it would still be nice to be able to see how much a given book sold for when you're interested. If anyone were going to track anything though, it'd have to be highly unofficial.
  22. It's a personal thing. There is no hard and fast rule about it. I understand that...I think that we are just wondering why you would want to keep it private in the first place. I guess it's just like wondering how the zombie apocalypse started....most times you just never know.
