The books in question here sold for $9,000 each.....that's ALOT of $$$ for a comic book. If being intellectually honest with yourself ( not YOUR self...oneself ), it would be foolish to choose simply what you like in this price range, without thoughts of "down the road" consequences. My comments above were not made out of greed...they were based on what I would do if this was a "real life" decision I was making. When spending $75 on a comic book, you can 100% focus on strictly what you like.....when it becomes $9,000 spent, the investment / future outlook side must be dealt with, as every book that I own and everyone on these Boards owns will one day be sold, traded, or passed down....you can't take 'em with you! You don't want pay for a USDA Prime steak, and end up with a moldy slither of grissle ! Steve Very well said.............

As always, you guys are a wealth of knowledge for this relative newbie. I paid him $6k CDN. at the time, which was about $5700-$5800 USD. According to the experts, I obviously overpaid, but I can't help being somewhat satisfied that I actually OWN a Tec #31 -- the BEST cover for sure. But I definitely will be more discriminating in the future thanks to all your collective input. FISH

Just going back to my (and previously Primetime's) Tec #31 -- It was graded by CGC as 1.8 "brittle pages" -- what do the experts think is a fair price to pay for this ?? Harley "unslabbed" it to realize a higher profit, but what if he hadn't done so -- what is fair ?? How much does the "brittleness" really affect the price of this key GA book ?? Curious FISH

As always, I appreciate all the "experts" chiming in -- I knew there were some of you out there who knew the book. Based on what I've heard so far, I'm happy with the purchase -- definitely much better price than pre-slab $$ Harley seemed to be asking. I'm sure he didn't want the same thing to happen to him again.-- anyway, I think he was fair knowing what he knew and me not knowing. Still don't understand the 1.8 "brittleness" from CGC - both Primetime and myself certainly can't see why PQ is such an issue here. But like Gator said, it IS unrestored at the least. PT -- do I have your Action #13 by chance? -- I know Harley had a poor copy that he sold to a neighbor @ the Spring Toronto show, whom I bought it from subsequently (which, BTW, was also too "brittle" to restore according to Matt @ Classics Inc.)

I have a question for anyone willing to make an educated guess re: Detective Comics #29 (especially since I have one now). I'm wondering, with all your collective experience, how many unrestored Tec #29's would you guess are still in the world as we know it ? ...and what logic do GA comic experts like yourselves use to come up with such an answer ??
