  1. Captain Marvel 1 VF+ (restored) $125 $90 Professional color touch on two of the spine ticks. There might be one more, but I was able to spot two with my jeweler's loop.
  2. Campus Romances 1 F/VF $475 $400 Crippen Pedigree Structurally a 9.0, but heavy foxing by the spine.
  3. Beware Terror Tales 7 VF- lt/ow pages $2500 Harley was asking $1500 for a slabbed 5.5. He sold it too!
  4. Authentic Police Cases 34 CGC 8.0 ow $3000 The thin white line is not on the book or slab. Not sure why it showed up in the pics. If it doesn't sell, I don't mind and back into the collection it goes.
  5. American Library 1 VF- $275 $200 "Thirty seconds over Toyko", rust on staple, 2 margin pieces missing on centerfold, pencil writing on front cover by 15 cent price.
  6. Adventure in Disneyland nn VF+ The book looks like a 9.4, but there is some staining on some of the pages. Sold to as a VF+, and I agree. A 7.5 sold in February for 3500. I knew this book was expensive, because I paid a lot over 20 years ago, but I had no idea. So I'm asking $3000 $2250. If it doesn't sell, off to CGC it goes...
  7. Hello, I have a few books for sale. I am taking these books to Torpedo Con to sell, but I figure I should give boardies the first shot. Here are the rules: First (or something similar) in the thread takes it. This supersedes any PM negotiations, regardless if an agreement is reached in those PM negotiations. NO Hall of Shamers or Probies, please! All raw books are returnable for any reason, but return shipping is on you. Please notify me within three days of your desire for a refund. No returns on slab books. For orders under $500, shipping is via USPS. Cost for shipping in the continental USA is $10 for a raw book and $18 for a slab. All other places will pay exact shipping and that amount will be determined after the book is sold. All books are shipped from Southern California. If more than one book is purchased, I will combine shipping. If the shipping cost is less, I will refund the difference. For orders over $500, shipping is either via USPS or FEDEX. Cost for shipping in the continental USA is $12 for a raw book and $25 for a slab. All other places will pay exact shipping and that amount will be determined after the book is sold. All books are shipped from Southern California. If more than one book is purchased, I will combine shipping. If the shipping cost is less, I will refund the difference. All shipped orders will have tracking. Orders over $200 will have signature confirmation and insurance. Payment by check, money order or PayPal. Local pick up is fine, but payment has to be via cash. Time payments are available. Please "PM" for details. This thread will close on Thursday at 3 PM PDT. OK, that's it for the rules. Here we go...
  8. "Is the writer's strike going to break the back of SDCC?" Answer: No. It will still be crowded, there will be many cosplayers in the Gaslamp District, restaurants will be crowded during peak times, there will be an occasional homeless person intermingled in the crowds, and the bathrooms will be . Harley will have nice stuff priced to the moon, deodorant will be scarcely used, there will be too many panels that I want to attend, Comic Heaven will have one book that I can't afford, someone will step on my foot, and I will eat breakfast every morning at Cafe 222. I will want a Mrs. Field's cookie, but the price will deter me, I will again spend too little time in the artist's alley, I will not get enough sleep, I will be dead tired on the drive home, I will have spent way too much, and I will not miss Mile High Comics. So in other words, I can't wait to have a great time!
  9. I met him at SDCC many years ago. He was a true gentleman. He will be missed in more ways than one.
  10. To the OP, I hope this situation gets resolved to your satisfaction. However, from my experience (and a few other boardies), it is not reasonable to expect a seller to pay for your CGC costs. I also think 60 days is too long to expect a refund. If you get one, consider yourself very fortunate. As a buyer, I always inspect my convention purchases BEFORE paying for them. If I find something a few weeks or days later, it's on me. If I want to spend some cash on this hobby, I better know how to grade and spot obvious color touch, trimming, etc. If I have a susception but I am not sure, I ask a fellow boardie, even if I have to ask the dealer to hold the books for me. If I can't grade or spot obvious restoration, then I should buy slabbed books. As a seller, I offer returns (for any reason) on raw books, but 60 days would irk me. Would I do it? Probably. Would I reimburse slabbing costs. No. If you want to crack the book out and send back as raw, that's fine by me. I say this because I have been burned a few times. I complained vehemently to the cat, but he just looked at me and yawned. So I tried to increase my knowledge and skill level. And you know what, the hobby fun factor went up too.
  11. It has Near Mint type of qualities, but a nick here and there, plus a small crease over there, etc. If you add those minor defects together, I call it a 7.0. If it was a Golden Age book, I would call it a 8.0. When I bought it many years ago, I was excited just to see a copy that I did not inspect it closely and just went by the dealer's word.
  12. Last book for this thread... Young Romance 205 VF $30 $22 SOLD
