  1. If you look at some of the newer hobbies (like MTG artwork) you will find a higher concentration of millennial collectors. The rules there are a bit different and much like you describe.
  2. It looks like the Conan #6 splash page was the highest selling item in this CL auction. Wasn't this entire issue purchased previously and not paid for or am I thinking of something else? If so are they just going to sell it a page at a time now? Found the old thread.
  3. In this case that COA was worth $510 !
  4. That is BS. Not a good move at all. It should be pulled.
  5. I'm not crazy about the signature either but what can you do? There is only one and if you are of the mind to bring this one home otherwise I doubt the signature has much sway.
  6. Less art is easier to manage, keep save and sell.
  7. Comic books are just catalogs in the eyes of the art collector.
  8. I’ve never heard of this strip but thought it might interest someone here. https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/entertainment/speed-bump-cartoonist-selling-originals-prints-to-benefit-pets-alive/article_f24e08e1-e6f3-5b0d-b19f-1b9ec0f8c877.html
  9. The cards went straight from packs into hard sleeves. I had a full set with all the variations. What would the unopened booster box be worth today? ---edit--- looks like 30k or so. https://www.trollandtoad.com/p79657.html
  10. Those two covers both convey the feel of the game. You know you are getting a fantasy RPG. If it is now a desirable card that would explain things a bit. I bought and sold the cards back in the day but didn't play much. I had a booster box and a complete set of Arabian Night at one point. The Arabian Nights set I sold for $800-$1200 tops. It was so long ago that I don't remember but I thought that Kird Ape was a cheap common card.
  11. Hmm I recall seeing something on ebay in the last year or two. Did a quick google and here is Oubliette for sale at $15k. http://www.vintagemagic.com/arabianoublietteart.html
  12. I loved the Arabian Nights set. One day I'd like to pick up a painting from that set but not if the commons are selling for 50k !
  13. Thanks for posting this. These are the cards that I remember. I stopping playing around this time. How often do these early cards change hands these days?
  14. This one? 50k? I understand a love of the art that makes up the game that you love but this is just an image of a gorilla. It doesn't have a magic / fantasy bone in its entire body.
  15. Did Magic art really sell for $500 back in 1993? That honestly seems like a lot of money for this art in 1993.
  16. You have to read the entire description to see that. The very last sentence mentions the paste up. I really wish the description of the art stand out and be separated from the fluff.
  17. I’m curious where the cutoffs for this might be. Obviously every case is different but at what point would you as a seller expect not to pay these fees? At what point would you as a seller expect a negative fee?
  18. Never understood this mindset. When no one gets a sketch then none of your fans get a sketch. If it isn't worth anything then even someone who is not a fan keeps it. If it has value then only a fan keeps it. If resold it ends up in the hands of a fan who wants it more.
  19. While I do buy cartoon covers like this for my daughter from time to time I doubt I'm buying this one. She is too young to know the characters. Specifically, I was curious how any cover value would change if it was drawn on two sheets as opposed to one. So pick any cover that drawn on one sheet of paper you feel that you have a good idea of value for and now split it up on two pieces of paper. Is it worth more, less or the same?
  20. No, definitely after my time and not for me. I know nothing of this tv show.
  21. Ehh I didn't show it to her yet. Not sure if she even knows who the Powerpuff Girls are.
  22. What is going on exactly in the Hobgoblin box? Is that a stat?
  23. The art that I collect is older than this with the ink and pencils on the same page. How would a piece like this be valued? Would a cover done in two isolated pages be worth more, less or the same as a cover done on one piece of paper.
  24. Can someone with a better understanding of the art process please explain this piece to me please? It does appear to be two separate pieces with one perhaps on acetate. Are they both original artwork? http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FPreviewCode%3D2018june%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dpowerpuff%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA%23Item_1257718&id=1257718&itemType=1
  25. Time machine wouldn’t help them. The record company would take one look at that list of demands and find someone else to do the cover. Somewhere there is another artist who didn’t get that shot who given the same time machine would still take that job for the exposure it offered.
