  1. So you have some artwork you could care less about and don't exactly recall what happened to it. Where is that thing? Who knows? Who cares? NOW it is valuable. Ohh yeah it was in storage and someone stole it. So if it ever turns up it is mine. One of these days an honest collector is going to catch the bad end of one of these stories.
  2. Is that the McSpidey cover that was held hostage after it "sold" but wasn't paid for ? Glad to see the owner got it back.
  3. Greed or perhaps he didn’t feel that he had a solid understanding of the market for the item. If you don’t understand the market how can you know if any offer is good or even a fair one?
  4. Some high prices this time around for sure but little shocks me anymore. Except MCP 85. Don’t understand that one at all.
  5. Thanks guys. Never had a book pressed or graded before. Any advice?
  6. If that cover is a fake what transparency would have prevented it? If anything I'd argue that the common knowledge of which covers have not been found yet gives forgers a better idea of which covers to fake.
  7. Those previous images don’t show the waves well enough. Here are some better shots. It is a shame because otherwise it looks like a decent book but then without them I never would have had the chance.
  8. Picked this one up a few years ago from a local comic book store for $300 or so sometime before the X-men and Wolverine movies were out.. The lower portion of the book has waves that affect the front , back cover and the interior pages. Not sure if those waves would come out with pressing.
  9. The 3 auction catalogs arrived in the mail today from Heritage. Each one has a sticker price of $50. Are there people here who buy these catalogs for that price? Not that I am going to pay $50 a pop but I’m glad that they send them out. I know not everyone is a fan of the catalogs but I like seeing them. One of them even has a fancy 3D cover.
  10. Well I guess the 52 cover is worth more afteralll !
  11. Be fun to walk around the convention with this under your arm as if it was common comic art.
  12. My first assumption was that yes 48 would be much better than 52. The 9.8 #52 that recently sold on HA threw me for a loop.
  13. Which of these two would be considered more valuable? My first thought was that Silver Surfer was the bigger character but looking now it seems that 52 is the more valuable book. Does that carry over to the artwork?
  14. I like how the issue number is a paste up. That must mean there was an issue 0 !
  15. Most pieces I buy I plan to keep but not everyone is that way. There are more reasons than you can count on why an unnamed person would sell. Perhaps he upgraded? Needs the money for piece he wants more. Lost his job? Divorce? Didnt like how it looks in person. Changing direction with his collection. Died and the wife is selling it. I’m sure you think of a few more.
  16. He must base pricing on size from years of selling various art prints.
  17. Or you could just buy them on his website. https://gspawn.com/search.php?search_query=sendak&section=product
  18. Just saw this. Sorry if it has already been posted.
  19. In the early 1990s I was studying Russian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California. Bruce Timm was there with his crew doing free sketches at a local comic shop. When it was my turn I asked for "Batman kicking my " he made a reply about not knowing he would be doing caricatures today but as unusual as my request was he did it for me. You can see blue lines in the piece if you look close. As for the possible fakes on eBay Albert should look into the VERO program. Once you get accepted into this program you can have potential counterfeit eBay items pulled without question.
  20. I picked up volume one and it is 400 pages with no ads. There are 6 volumes in the set so figure 2400 pages roughly. What do the artist do with all those pages?
  21. I'm looking to pick up a few page from the Death Note series by Takeshi Obata and haven't a clue where to start. Any ideas?
  22. As long as people are interested in comic art the covers will always do well. With slabs all you see is the cover.
