  1. A few years ago I started collecting non-US GA comics. When I started, I hadn't realized these were reprints and spent way too much but they were fun to read and got a feel for it. I have spent some time on the Australian Comics FB page and NZ Pre Decimal FB and learned a lot there. These may have been reprinted in the UK sometime in the 70s but really do not know for sure. Nothing high grade. Two of them have small stickers on the cover showing the issue number (see pics). Captain Havoc and one of the Gem Comics. On average mid grade. So if someone wants some reading material of material you don't see too often, here it is. And I might be killing my own sales thread but I will share that there is a site for Aussie reprints at https://ausreprints.net/ and although I didn't look these up, I assume some at least may be there. But if you are old school and want to hold it in hand, grab these. Australian GA books most always color covers with black/white interiors which these have. And again, these are reprints of US material but reprints of original Australian material. PP Goods/Services, No Returns, in thread trumps any unaccepted PM offers. Asking $20 shipped for the group (what a deal ) Shipping can be made with media mail since these have no ads. If someone outside the US is interested, PM me and I can get a shipping quote.
  2. Do you mind telling me what it sold for and was it as low grade as my copy?
  3. I knew it was in a mag holder (which I hate but understand why) but I had assumed the label IDing wouldn't be impacted. I had no idea but I can say that about almost anything anymore Thanks as always.
  4. So I don't get a chance to follow the boards too much and sporadically read through when the thread when the Promise Collection Pedigree was first announced. I also don't scan HA as much as i used to but did look through their current weekly auction. I noticed several Promise books with the new label and the Promise Collection label note centered under the issue title like I have seen but I saw a few with a blue label and the label note off the the right side. Is that just a labeling error or is there is a distinction of some kind? Sorry if this is Titanic (old news). Here is an example https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/fox-giants-everybody-s-comics-1-the-promise-collection-pedigree-fox-features-syndicate-1944-cgc-fn-vf-70-cream-to-off-wh/a/122152-17429.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515-new#
  5. I know I have been around since 2007 but don't remember this being brought up. Has there been consideration to having a separate auction thread in the Sales Forum? I remember modifying auction rules and when I saw the separating Gold and Silver, it made me curious.
  6. Pics of screws front and back in spoiler below. (also shows small flaw as noted above and FORTESS lettering). Pics of brochures and archival cloth in spoiler below.
  7. I think this forum is appropriate for this item. I saw one listed here a few months ago without any issues raised but if it needs to be removed, please let me know. The fortress has never been used to my knowledge. I may have ordered it directly but honestly do not remember - the brochure has N/A marked on the order form which leads me to believe it was after Pedrin stopped producing these or some promotion. I have loads of pictures in the spoiler to show each screw as I have seen some fortresses with cracks due to overtightening. There is the slightest chip on one edge which is does not impact the structure and really cannot be seen. (pic is included). THIS IS THE GOLDEN AGE FORTRESS AND NOT SILVER AGE AS IT DOES HAVE THE FOUR GASKETS. Incudes the black felt sleeve, archival cloth and brochures. Anyone spot the error in the description on the brochure? PP Goods/Services, No Returns, in thread trumps any unaccepted PM offers, only shipping within the US. Other pics in spoilers in next post. My hours are quirky - I am usually online from 1 am CST - 3 pm CST. Asking $65 shipped.
  8. Thanks so much. So one different book and two the same. I can't see any staples on mine unless they hidden under the glue. Are you the gluing is manufacturing then and not post production?
  9. I have a copy of All-Pictures Adventures Magazine #2. I couldn't find much information on GCD since it has not been indexed. There are only three on the census and I found raw sale on HA in 2006. The HA listing description states: "All Picture Adventure Magazine #2 (St. John, 1952) Condition: Apparent VG/FN. Contains three St. John comics rebound -- one is an unknown issue of Authentic Police Cases, and the other two are indeterminate horror comics. Artists include Matt Baker, Don Perlin, and Paul Gattuso. Lingerie and bondage panels inside." My copy has the following three issues rebound Weird Horrors #2 https://www.comics.org/issue/223257/ Atom-Age Combat #1 https://www.comics.org/issue/174254/#1030870 Authentic Police Cases #16 https://www.comics.org/issue/174293/#742173 So it has the artists HA mentions - Matt Baker, Don Perlin, And Paul Gattuso. Two questions if anyone knows - do the contents vary or are these three books the ones always rebound for this issue? I assume mine has glue on the spine from a previous owner but curious since it is rebound, could it be manufacturing (pics below)? Thanks
  10. Have not posted here until now but I have read through the thread. To me, you did everything possible in a complicated situation to appease an overly fussy buyer. I cannot imagine why @Golden Pete wouldn't have received a refund that was issued almost two weeks ago. On the 31st, he stated that he would pack up the books. Now he the books and the refund (at lest according to the PayPal detail), correct? This just seems like such a tortuous ordeal with prolonged agony. Did he send you images and videos as promised t least of the packing process?
  11. Yes from GPA. I just screen captured the 9.8 data. As for years of data, I did not capture all of the data but if you may sign up, I think GPA is okay with me sharing more. I have subscribed for a long time and don't sell much but love it as a buyer.
  12. Not really a part of this discussion but you made me curious so I looked.

  14. Thanks all for the comments. Just to give an example of what has become a typical occurrence with my mom's condition. She hallucinates 100% of the time from a little girl living in the kitchen trash can to people coming through her closet and trying clothes and I could keep going. She is constantly throwing her clothes in piles or putting them in bags which I think is to hide them from others trying them on. She is unable to dress herself and constantly puts shirts on her legs and so on. You really cannot imagine what she comes up with. Just a murky mess in her mind. She fixates on wanting to go home and when you ask where she is at, she says home but then follows up can you take me home. Last night it was through the night - just non-stop. She becomes defensive and combative. She has lived in this house in 1972. My dad is 93 and they have been married since 1962 but she doesn't know who he is. Part of her dementia is Capgras Syndrome or the imposter syndrome where loved ones have been replaced with others. Up until a few weeks ago, she would always recognize me but there now have been a couple of times when she did not know me. I have to cut up her food to make it easier to eat - it really is like dealing with an infant. My dad has been somewhat dispassionate and his health is not great. He should be on dialysis but refuses. So on top of all this, I maintain the household by doing laundry, cleaning, outside chores like mowing, gardening and such. So while many suggestions may seem more effortless, dealing with this not takes an incredible of time, you get little sleep and you are emotionally drained. Not a simple life. TMI, I am sure but just wanted to add clarity so folks could more understand why I was looking for the most effortless option. I do appreciate all who have weighed in and the PMs of support.
  15. Yes, I did indeed. But again, I am wanting basically to pay for a service that grades, lists and sells. But of course, it was helpful to read through, Dave and thanks for sharing it. It seems simple, Shad and most likely is. I have boxes and boxes of books that I want to clear out. Here's the deal and I have shared it before. I watch after my 84 year old mom who suffers from dementia. It is a 24/7 exhaustive experience and I mean that literally not figuratively. She hallucinates constantly and is delusional 100% of the time. It is a horrible disease. Her sister suffered also but her symptoms began when was in her 90s and did not hallucinate. My cousins kept saying you can't imagine and I couldn't. There really is no escape. My cousins after three years of caretaking finally put my aunt in a memory care center (a glorified name for a nursing center that doesn't get any better care) and a few months later (last October), she contracted COVID and passed away. So that is what I am dealing with and why I am trying to find a path of least effort to pare down my collection. P.S. Right after I retired six years ago, I had some major health problems. So I get back on my feet, I get hit with this. So I sell my place and move in to watch after her and will continue to do so as long as my health and sanity hold out. I just feel putting her in a nursing memory care center is like a death sentence. Rough duty.
  16. Hi Conan. Thanks for weighing in. I have sent books in before for auction and all went well. Not sure I understand your first sentence here - not all GA/SA books have a value below $7. And what happens when someone over-estimates a book, do you return the book at the owner's expense? I believe too there is an override feature so can't someone use that feature to send in books that may a lower value than you want? I am going by memory from some time ago. Still even recording and grading myself doesn't solve my problem. I guess what I hoping is a venue that grades for me and I would be willing to incur a higher SP for that. Books of lower values could be grouped together and sold as lots all at the consignment shop's discretion.
  17. I wasn't sure you could still list raw books to the Exchange without sending them but even if you could, that wouldn't solve my problem. I really don't have time nor want to go through the effort of grading and listing and sending a book at a time if one sells.
  18. I have a lot of GA and SA raw books that I am wanting to sell and was wondering what experiences folks have had with CL raw consignments. This isn't a which venue is best for my books as we have had many of those and maybe one like this but I do not remember it but I rarely stray into the CG forum. Due some personal issues that exhaust much of my time and energy, I am looking for alternatives that do not require me to grade the books and list and sell the books myself. I would explore options like Mycomicshop but I still need to assess if MCS will accept the book and if so, grade and record books myself if I am not mistaken; yet still would be graded by MCS @mycomicshop (tagging Conan). The same may be true for CL. I am just looking at their selling options from their website and since I tagged Conan probably appropriate to tag Josh although I am not sure how active he is here @COMICLINK and the following in the spoiler is what it says for the option I am considering but before I contacted them directly outside of the tag here. So any experiences? I assume they price the books themselves as well assign the grades. Do they accept any and all or do you send a list and let them pick? A small group of books I am wanting to sell in the spoiler below (please no PMs). Tried to give a range of genres and desirability in the pic. Not all crappy stuff. SA stuff is mainly Marvel hero titles. And is payment painless and fairly prompt? Any other alternatives? Thanks for any input.
