  1. The closest I come to anything like this was a purchase of a raw National Comics #29 on Ebay. I was working on finishing my run of Uncle Sam covers of USQ and National. It was shortly after I joined the boards in 2007. It looked nice from the pic (only front cover) and to be honest, I really have never been a grade snob. Just like completing runs. The selling price was fair - not a steal but not too high. I posted scans here on the boards along with the back cover scan. I don't have the BC scan handy but someone here picked up the Tom Reilly stamp hidden on the BC. I never noticed it. Here it is after being graded.
  2. Yeah this is not new. Years ago I bought a raw National 18 listed I believe as a VG+. When it arrived, the cover looked especially glossy which I felt had been reglossed. Nothing in the description mentioned this or any type of restoration. I called HA and was told that isn't possible as the books are carefully graded and restoration is checked before listing. I forget what the turnaround is to return a book but is seemed like it was pretty quick. I reached out to Matt Nelson (this was when he had Classics, Inc.) I sent it to him and he confirmed the reglossing and sent it on to HA within their prescribed return timeline so I was refunded. A few weeks later the book turned up in another of their weekly auctions, this time noting the restoration. My experience with HA's customer has normally been exemplary but this incident stands out like an sore thumb. I am sure I have bought a few raws since then on a GA book that I needed/wanted for my collection but very rarely and my experience is not a one-off reading what others have posted.
  3. Always great books, Nik. I think the sig on the cover is Clark Cable but imagine if it was Gable
  4. Yeah well-read and well-loved. a 1.0 CGC grade but a 10.0 emotional attachment grade. As a youngster, that cover with Calizuma gave me nightmares. Too devil-like for my innocent eyes
  5. That is classic, Paul. I have told you so many times how we have so much in common and are kindred spirits. Mine was Defenders #2 which I think I have shared with you before. I still have have it and posted it in earlier threads of this vein.
  6. Thanks. I personally think the percentage is bad. If I see below 99%, I normally do not bid unless it is lower total feedback seller with just one or two negs which can more impact the percentage but when I see a trend like on this seller, it raises my red flag and I move on. Just my opinion and wary nature, Even with buyer protection, just not worth the potential hassle for me.
  7. Does ebay ever suspend or ban a seller for poor feedback? I was looking at book and noticed the seller had 83 negs in the last month, 399 in the last six months and 789 in the last year. Lots of neutrals as well. https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/greatbookprices2?filter=feedback_page:RECEIVED_AS_SELLER&_trksid=p2047675.l2560 I won't be bidding on the book but that seems horrendous but I assume as long as folks bid, then ebay is happy.
  8. Unless something has changed, what @csaag is correct. Here is my understanding - If sent in for reholder, then the same serial number is kept but it is transferred to the new label. The book would not be regraded unless there is an obvious defect that has occurred to the book since it was last graded. If a book is submitted for a regrade (or a book is regraded for whatever reason) a new serial number is given to the book. CGC will remove the old serial number from the census if the book is sent for regrade while still encapsulated or the book is sent in raw along with the old label.
  9. Agree with @Sqeggs tough book. I sold a lower grade copy of Super Duck #1 with the CF missing plus some of the puzzles had been worked on Ebay for $175 (another SD Hitler cover - maybe those are the only two?) . I was actually surprised it reached that amount with the missing pages. A pic below. Love your book.
  10. @Fedoraman did/does them. I am not sure how active he is here now. Here is one of his old threads. I think thee are newer ones than this but it was the first one I landed on when I searched.
  11. I swear this never gets old Happy T-Day, Mike
  12. Hi Nik. Love that #30. Hop all is well. Happy T-Day!
  13. I got the 5% but haven't found bought anything. I did receive a $10 off min. order $20 if using the app on my other Ebay account. I actually bought some N95 masks for my daughter. She is a speech pathologist going into elementary schools to work with kids and unfortunately there is no mandated mask policy in the school but it would be pretty hard for elementary students to keep their masks on. Worse though, my daughter said almost all of the teachers and office staff do not wear masks.
  14. @Larryw7 Wait, you mean maybe no more Robin
  15. No where near the reach as Ebay but I have won some auctions from different sellers. They seem to do a good marketing job of auctions and sales from sellers. If it is still an option, you can sell for free but with only very limited listings. Not sure of the store rates or if the email marketing is extra. You can list on Hip along with other sites but another uncertainty on my part, how you control if an item sells on another site.
  16. If you're talking about the book(s) in the thread I posted, remember it is from 2012; but there have been numerous threads about the seller and all that I remember, none have been positive.
