  1. @csaagis right on. Here is the info on the CBCS website - https://www.cbcscomics.com/rawgrade
  2. I remember buying that off the stands. I thought it was pretty good.
  3. @Simon Comics might be interested in this one since I assume that is most likely a Joe Simon signature.
  4. I haven't played in SS in ages. This may have been discussed as I am not on the boards much but I saw this and thought I would share. If already threaded somewhere, my apologies. I only used CBCS once (not for SS) and though I felt their grading was decent, their customer was deplorable. That was several years ago.
  5. @decepticon Ken I don't log in too much anymore but I saw your recap and it brought good memories.
  6. My bad. I went right to the images and glossed over what you wrote.
  7. @Bandelier Is that story - "The Case of the Missing Heir" that same that is in Funny Pages #v3#1 which I think may be considered a Bruce Wayne prototype. That story is written and drawn by Kane. Here is a link to the GCD listing for that book. https://www.comics.org/issue/404/ I also looked on the Digital Comic Museum site and while that evidently is in the public domain, that particular issue has not been uploaded. Other issues in the series have been. I think that issue is high on the Gerber scarcity index.
  8. I know he did the interior of this one and think it may be the only one. He may have done some other interiors but I am not sure and didn't search GCD.
  9. When I aspirations of becoming an artist, I bought so many of his how-to-draw books in the 70s. I still have them. Admittedly I set a low bar but my daughter was such a good artist and I gave her some of the books and bought others. I wanted her to pursue art in college but she was worried about making a living. She is now a Speech Pathologist but can still wield a pretty good pencil. So yeah, Hogarth deserves lots of props. My Mt. Rushmore: Lou Fine Mac Raboy L.B. Cole Alex Schomburg If another head was carved, Frazetta is it. And yes,
  10. Boy Comics to Headline Comics for the American Boy
  11. I probably posted somewhere along the way since this was a 2014 thread but glad it revived. I doubt I posted a George Tuska cover who I abhorred when I started reading comics in the early 70s. I finished my run of Nationals with Uncle Sam covers and USQ and still think as a group, they have the best run of covers spread out with different artists. So when I got this one, I gained new respect for Mr. Tuska.
  12. @wombat Possibly try to contact Dr. Dave Winiewicz (DocDave). I looked and couldn't find a way to contact him. The last blog entry I saw was in 2020. Maybe try reaching out to Vanguard Publishing - http://vanguardpublishing.com/frank_frazetta/index.html I am pretty sure I remember him posting here years ago. J.D. Spurlock could be a contact too. One of my grails is a SS Frazetta book.
  13. thrilling 47 7.5 ow-w ped to thrilling 47 7.5 ow-w double cover
  14. I created my account on the registry in 2003 and lurked here for a few years before creating my account in 2007. Had a few hiatuses, one for two years and now due to some personal issues do not get on much. I hazard to think how much money I have spent in the marketplace. Probably easier to name who I haven't bought from
  15. I started in on collecting the series some time ago and got sidetracked. I have four issues and was fortunate to pick up a #2 back then. It is a great cover.
  16. Had to tell but the defects you show appear to be present in the scan that is on their website. The listing shows sale pending which is what WW does when a book is bought. Ritter seems to leave them up for a while. Here is the scan WW had posted. I am also of the belief if you are not happy, take the full refund and find a book that will make you happy. It is a cool book.
  17. Lou Fine Frank Frazetta L. B. Cole Jeffrey Jones Alex Schomburg I want to add others like Mac Raboy, Neal Adams, Berni Wrightson, Charles Sultan, Leo O'Mealia. And if strip artists count, I may re-evaluate to include Alex Raymond and Hal Foster.
