  1. I can't find it but IIRC @newshane soaked a CGC slabbed comic in a bathtub and monitored it overtime to note water penetration and had some threads or journal about it. I did find this one he did that is somewhat on topic.
  2. Could it be these at Bags Unlimited? Graded Comic Sleeve 8-5/8 x 13-3/16" 3 mil Polyethylene. Holds 1 regular graded comic. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/5479/graded-comic-sleeve-br-8-58-x-13-316-3-mil-polyethylene-brholds-1-regular-graded-comic
  3. Maybe they discontinued the ones shown because looking on BCW's site, those are not listed. Maybe call BCW to see if they are still available. I guess with the Amazon purchases at least they can be returned as inaccurate description or not as described whatever those choices are. Good luck.
  4. Did the package have the dimensions on it like is what shown in the linked image? Just curious, I have never ordered them so just wondering if the actual package is the same or they subbed on you.
  5. @GAMBIT Unless you are wanting the ones that are mylar, these fit what you're looking for https://www.amazon.com/Resealable-Bag-Graded-Comics-Bags/dp/B00V0EYDJE
  6. @Joshua33 Not sure if this on the list but saw your WTB just in case you hadn't seen it. @jfletch999 Great books as usual!
  7. Yeah, I bought a lot of books from the Koch Bros. from their TBG/CBG ads. I do not remember if I had that catalog. I also ordered from from Gary Dolgoff but I had great luck with the Koch books as far as grade. So may with multiple copies available - I doubt I knew what a warehouse find was back in the 70s (not sure I know now, ) I am not sure if they were considered finds but I bought copies of early issues of Captain Britain. I had them graded and my #1 1 came back as a 9.4, #2 as 9.6. If I remember correctly, I ordered several copies of Wein/Wrightson Swamp Things (no #1 but others -- at least I think it was from the Kochs) - the #8 and #9 especially. I still have them and they are really nice. When I played around with SS, I had Wrightson sign a few of them.
  8. Hi Pov Sadly, popped staples seem to be an issue that others have reported. I tried CCS when they first began mainly because I had used Matt when he had Classics Inc. before I joined the boards. I was always pleased with Matt. His work and customer service was great. One try with CCS was enough, my one book that I sent in to test the waters came back with a popped staple. I know it didn't have a popped staple before I sent it in. I felt it was a good candidate and I did check it very carefully. There really is only option for me when it comes to pressing and if scroll up to the post before mine, that person will always get my business.
  9. Maybe but I have won items from that seller and never noticed anything like that. He had a Bats 181 listed as complete one time and I asked if it included the poster. It did not and he quickly revised. He deals in a lot of pop culture material. But on Ebay who knows and with today's quacky prices, nothing really surprises. I bet if Nic Cage had signed it, it would only hammer at a sawbuck.
  10. You know what is even more is not that the two 5.0 sales (showing on GPA) are this and a $504 (both in February, 2022) but these last sale prices (also February, 2022) 5.5 - $485, 6.0 - $600. 5.5 - $600, 7.0 - $600, 7.5 - $850. That seller does get a lot of play and had listed some nice books, GA on up. Bidding fever...
  11. @szavScott, you got me thinking about FH OO and I don't think I have posted this before. OO from Jumbo 163 Ghost Gallery page by Robert Webb. Added the page as printed downloaded thanks to Digital Comics Museum. I think I have a raw copy of the book somewhere because I thought I finished 161-167 ghost gallery covers but all I find in my scans are my graded copies and don't see 162 and 163. Gads, a commentary of my clutter and now if I can't find them, two more books to my want list. Thanks a lot, Scott
  12. Bob, there is an article about him in Alter-Ego #78 https://issuu.com/twomorrows/docs/alterego78preview/19
  13. I think some of those off angles pics from some sellers is purposeful to hide defects. @Tri-ColorBrian I always add some boolean to my saved searches to get rid of some of the gunk like photocopies and such. e.g., -dvd -photocopy... It does clean up some of it. Even for those that give good FC and BC scans or pics, I want more, especially inside FC and inside BC and CF. It would also be great if there was some reassurance that the book is complete. I often ask how many pages before I bid on a book.
  14. @blazingbobBob, I am registered on your site but have never spun the wheel. I think it is very obvious and evident that you are committing to purchase once you spin. The pop-up verbiage is clear and you can't proceed until that is closed. But outside of this instance, I have wondered what percentage of spinners don't follow through regardless of providing communication or just not paying. I think it is an innovative feature and am really just curious. Thanks
  15. As an aside, I remember your TBG ads and placed some mail orders. One of my biggest regrets was dumping all of my TBGs when I divorced (just didn't want to move them) and I started in the mid 70s. I miss looking through the ads as much as the articles now. Thanks for the memories. And that Action cover was a rejected cover for Detective #2, wasn't it? I guess DC thought it was too eerie/creepy, maybe?
  16. You did fine with it. I hope you know it wasn't intended to be disparaging at all. I admit to being surprised some of the other ones slid as much as they did. But like I said, I am sure HA's reach, target audience, first offering competition, and marketing play a big role in their realized prices. I have bid on a few Promise books but have yet to obtain one. Like you, my pockets are not deep and I try to find a book that fits in my collection. Congrats on the book.
  17. @Bookery @MrBedrock Tim, Richard - There have been a few Promises hit Ebay - no key but I thought the results were kind of interesting. Again, not a big sample and kind of squatty books. The Master and Pep are decent books. Remember Ebay is now what 12% selling fee so I calculated that as well. Pep #50 CGC 6.5 HA sale $1,020 9-6-21 Ebay Sale $1,550 12-27-21 ($1,364 for Ebay fee) Black Diamond Western #11 CGC 9.0 HA Sale $264 11-14-21 Ebay Sale Best Offer Accepted $450 list Action #147 CGC 5.5 HA Sale $552 11-21-21 Ebay Sale 1-26-22 $565.17 ($497.35) Kid Colt Outlaw #5 CGC 8.5 HA Sale $840 9-6-21 Ebay Sale 2-12-22 $520.41 ($457.96) Master #41 CGC 8.0 HA Sale $1,020 9-20-21 Ebay Sale 2-20-22 $793.56 ($698.33) So out of all of them the Black Diamond Western may have had the largest percentage gain Again, doesn't really say much with this limited number of resales - also HA's reach and marketing of the material had something to do with their hammer price. The Master is a nice book with a Raboy cover and it took a big hit. Not sure if the sellers just needed money for whatever reason or thought they would try a quick flip and failed. So again, meaningless but I have been interested to see how they do on the secondary market. I only looked Ebay but know some Promises have sold or are for sale through other sites/dealers.
  18. Isn't that crazy. I guess getting caught up in auction fever. I have seen it many times where books are sold even here on the boards where you can find similar copies for less.
  19. Looking back at the HA auction 10 or so years ago when @Moondoghad a handful of consigned ashcans, I wish I had tried to win one. I am not sure when the Action Comics #1 ashcan was sold/auctioned but that one is wicked cool.
  20. 3rd Highest Graded That was a tough issue for me to finish the Thrilling run. 7 total on the census with one of those a Qualified 3.5. That 9.9 is insane with the next closest a 7.5 and then to the bottom feeders like me (one other graded as 4.5)
