  1. Remember too that books in their exchange (not auction) are not usually at CL. They are uploaded by the seller and for the most part stay with the seller until they are sold. That is one reason, it may take longer to get books when buying through the exchange. I guess CL could require BC scans but the seller could upload whatever and it would be a labor nightmare to go through and confirm the BC scans. I would like to have BC scans and the highest quality/resolution possible and scans of every book but many of the raw books listed are sans-scan. I say all of this as at least this was the way it used to be when selling on the exchange and as far as I know it has not changed.
  2. I don't think I saw this posted (maybe in OA forum but there are other items besides OA in the auction). Some nice and interesting items. Profiles in History is pretty well known. They actually had their own TV show a few years ago. Just wanted to share in case anyone was interested in looking and/or bidding. Lots of movie props from all eras of Supes, toys, OA, Their website link to this auction is https://profilesinhistory.com/auctions/superman-the-auction/ Some example items - Action Comics #1 Unrestored CGC Conserved Grade 7.0 Superman Returns prop comic book signed by Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth and many more. Joe Shuster Studio original artwork for page 7 of an unpublished Golden Age "Superman" comic book Superman: The Movie full unopened case of Series 2 Topps trading cards.
  3. I just wanted to say that Janet (jsilverjanet) and Donna (comicdonna) are two of my favorite boardies.
  4. I never ran many sales threads but I had one where Ken did his thread update. I was elated and humbled. I remember thanking him profusely in the thread and saying that my status had elevated with one his updates. He was so nice and a great boardie. Miss his presence here.
  5. Amazing books, Leroy! Just stunning on that Punch. Just dripping with colors both literally and figuratively.
  6. I figured you would have eyes set on this, Peter. Elvis Presley 1957 Pink & Black Cadillac is up for auction. https://connect.invaluable.com/gwsauctionsllc/auction-lot/Elvis-Presley-1957-Pink-Black-Cadillac-Once-Exh_C47481BA33/
  7. Kind of related - I started with all the Alan Light Flashback reprints including the Special Edition volumes such as the Ray and Black Condor and Cap Marvel Jr. Lots of great stories and art albeit when they were done the reproduction was not the greatest and some b/w mixed with color but still a good starting point. I was full blown GA after reading back in the 70s.
  8. Ssshhh, some of his legal clients he is representing may be listening. Great grab on the Cap, CC.
  9. Thanks Richard. I still wonder how many treasures are stowed away and will eventually turn up at some point. Always fun to see.
  10. I wonder if folks know you can tell when they visit the boards even though they don't post. I purposely used @freecharlie so he most received an email saying he had been mentioned in a post (if he is signed up for notifications like this) but regardless. He posted last 10-9 and visited 10-26 maybe assuming he as stealth if he didn't post. He is now tarnished unfortunately until he makes amends and pays for what he claimed and that stigma of PL may follow him even if he does eventually pay his debt.
  11. There is a lot of urban legend around the Batman/Green Hornet crossover during their run in the 60s. Below is a little excerpt from a book about different TV tropes. When you search for it, there are tons of stories and such. There are also many stories where Bruce Lee during the shooting acted like he was really going to use his skills to kick Ward's behind since Ward had been bragging about how good he himself was at martial arts. Lee didn't speak at all before the shooting and stayed very stoic and evidently really scared Ward into thinking he was going to be Robin, the Bloodied Blunder. All of this is up to debate but I don't think there is any doubt Bruce Lee would have sent Ward home with a "who's your daddy now, pretty boy?" look. As for Robin, I totally understand the reasoning for adding him with Bats but for me a dark, solitary Bats in the best. Although the 50s Bats with the sci-fi and more oddballish stories with both Bats Robin are some of my favorites. By the way, did anyone know that Bruce Lee was considered for the role that David Carradine got in the "Kung Fu"Tv show. That would have been pretty interesting with him in that role. Robin is still a dweeb though
  12. I was actually going to ask about this yesterday since you had thought you might post again with an update and when I didn't see anything, I was hopeful @freecharlie had taken care of his debt and purchase. It appears he would prefer to have his reputation spoiled here. It is such a shame to so easily sever one's ability to buy and sell here or really even participate in discussions with a PL label attached. Again, sorry for all of this Sha.
  13. Well I am just not too observant - it says May of 52 on the cover - sorry. I think it is pretty evident it is not WWII - the date, the sleeve of the communist uniform I believe is consistent and the sickle/hammer tat. The Steve Savage cover is just awesome, btw.
  14. Those are great. Based on the hand tat, it seems Korean and not WWII. When was it released?
  15. Doutful but looking for pages of Wonder Comics #2. The Fox Wonder with the Lou Fine Yarko cover. Also need the back cover or if someone knows what other books had the same back cover that would be great.
  16. Sounds like looking for a rube bidder which may be less effort and definitely less cost than resubmission. If it is upgraded and sold ebay costs are still consistent. He may be confident of an upgrade but it could also drop or more than likely stay where it is. To be honest, it is not a bad idea to try this. At least he can get an idea of where it ends without much effort and I guess no cost if it doesn't meet reserve. I don't think reserve listings cost anything like regular auction fotmat up to 50 listings per month are free.
  17. Bob, T'aint that much kool-aid around for me. Gotta imagine he has set reserve at or near that $115K mark. He needs more than hallucinogen-laced kool-aid. Now maybe with some hookah brownies...
  18. Unless he has two copies with the same serial number, he has the the same book in an auction format but with a reserve. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-FANTASY-15-CGC-5-0-UNRESTORED-OLD-LABEL/222702438954?hash=item33da198a2a:g:nOYAAOSwRrlZ72hq
  19. Again just stabbing and there many others (probably most others ) that have more knowledge than me but some other considerations - There are some Joker covers on Bat titles that may also be up there. And some of the Kamen covers on Blue Beetle and some of the Jungle titles but others specifically might be: All Star 33 All Top 8 Phantom Lady 13 and 17 Flash 104
  20. Assuming in the highest grade known? One that jumps to my mind without much thinking through DCs, Timelys and some others, Startling Comics #49 (1/1948) probably would be up there.
  21. Sure, Goodman was the little guy in the field and was always trying to measure up sales with DC and Fawcett, but since Cap was a patriotic war superhero, that made Bucky a little extra special (so hoped Goodman) than Robin. Edited 9 hours ago by Primetime Bucky would kick Robin's green undies (just like Kato would have if Burt Ward hadn't raised a stink ala the 60s TV show ) And they had the good sense to put pants on Bucky. Apologies for the veer-off and anti-Boy Blunder post
