  1. My thoughts as well, Claudio. Both wonderful books. I feel fortunate to have a #1 albeit restored. That #6 is awesome. Where did I leave that extra $5K throw away money I carry around.
  2. Unless it was reslabbed, it is a different copy as the GPA sale you mentioned has a different cert number. It also had light tan - ow pages and was graded in December of 2012. The Ebay listing was graded June of 2016 so it could have been resubbed as all I am going on is the cert number and no scan of the GPA sale.
  3. I hadn't been able to buy much recently but treated myself to a book yesterday. It was the last one I needed to finish my Captain Science run to have all seven issues. Can't do a group shot since this is in transit and two issues are in for grading but I made a collage of my run below.
  4. Bronze Justice League lots closing tonight. Many issues from #117 on up, including #137 Superman vs. Captain Marvel.
  5. Just an aside to let you know he is a board member here FAKadar's Profile He shares pictures and links to his artwork and sales at Ebay and Etsy as an example. Lots of wonderful art.
  6. Great artist. I've mentioned before it was Raboy and Lou Fine that got me hooked on GA through Alan Light's reprints (CM Jr. and the Ray/Black Condor). I felt Raboy's art just seemed so effortless and smooth. Here's one that I was happy to get some time ago.
  7. And I imagine, the flip phone wasn't unflipped to see the screen. Those pics show a pretty beat copy.

  9. I do believe most auction sites will report to IRS for sale(s) over certain amounts or cumulative over a year. Not that I have ever run into that myself. And not that I would suggest not reporting taxes as per IRS rules but I assume sites like this where it is mostly member policed and no fees associated with listing sales, it would be your responsibility to enter appropriate data on your taxes and self report. All assumptions on my part. It is always hard to part with a collection - best of luck.
  10. The Mystery Comics is great. I finished the four issue run of the series and a very much underappreciated series with Schomburg doing what he did best on the covers.
  11. I rarely pop into the Bronze forum so if this has been posted, apologies. I stumbled across this Ebay listing - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hanna-Barbera-Scooby-Doo-Where-Are-You-Vintage-Comic-Book-No-1-Fine-Condition/263407237643?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 I have 3 copies of the book with to mid grade slabbed and thought goodness have my copies jumped that much in value but a quick check of other auctions and GPA shows otherwise. The description of the listing says VG/F although it grade higher and does appear to have good gloss and color but a mid grade raw copy already over $1K
  12. #287 - a long way from top ten. Yeah but you do look down upon about everyone else in the hobby.... Since you're like 6 foot and 32 inches.... And still one of the nicest people around.
  13. I realize she has had a lot of plastic surgery but even so, she is a beautiful woman. I watched their variety show in the 70s as a youngster.
  14. I don't buy new books or trades - is this something special to make it worth $2K or maybe just a listing error? I am asking here because it is really the only forum I haunt and also \the listing is under GA books on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Golden-Age-Comic-F1008/263351078554?hash=item3d50f28e9a:g:LR0AAOSwstxVa-S1
  15. I'm envious of Mr. B - I don't think I have ever had a woman say that to me. And him making "Wood" post. I guess they call him Mr. Long Pants for a reason
  16. Along the lines of digital as mentioned earlier, I would certainly give a nod to the Grand Comic Database. A massive resource that I go to continuously and have contributed to. For page counts, credits, covers, etc., GCD is wonderful and I realize it covers more than GA and more than US-based series. Before I would use Keltner's Guide for page counts and still keep it handy. Even with all that, I still spend time leafing through my Gerbers - each time finding a cover or two or more that I add to my want list. And I cannot tell you how times, I have gone through those two volumes.
  17. That is awesome! I happened onto a San Fran National a while back on Ebay. No mention of the ped and no BC scan where Tom's stamp was. Actually I didn't spot the stamp for some time. Congrats again - beauty of a book!
  18. So I was the one who misunderstood (where's the revolver to my head emoticon)
  19. I hope you didn't misunderstand my post as I agree with you. I said if it were I, I would have shown restraint and taken only one freebie and I should have added only if I really wanted and/or needed it. If not, I would just pass on a freebie and let others partake.
  20. I don't collect Archie but since I was a wee lad, I have always been a Betty over Veronica luster so #50 had been on my wants. About a year or twp ago, I won this raw on Ebay. The seller said it belonged to her mother and it actually went cheap compared to other sales I had seen back then. I normally would not buy raw on Ebay but thought I would take a chance. The seller didn't offer a grade - just front and back pictures. I did ask for her to count the pages and it was complete. I sent it in for grading and it turned out okay. It is the only GA Archie Comics I own.
  21. I agree 100% on using GPA sales as being relative to price a raw book unless the raw has been priced taking into consideration slabbing fees but even then I think it is ill-advised practice. I too pass on a sales thread when I see that. I looked briefly at that thread and the books listed were nothing I was interesting in so I hadn't ventured into it again. As for the buyer taking the free books, if it was within the seller's guidelines, I can't really fault the buyer. I personally would have exercised restraint so the freebies could be spread out.
