  2. Yeah, like Tyler said above, I didn't think the tape would make it restored but maybe it is conserved now (I still am unclear on the newer tape grading standards and perhaps it is archival tape which may make a difference). Just step up and go after the 3.0 in CC's auction (note it has tape as well but on interior cover so different than your example. It is a great book/cover and I'm not a DC guy at all.
  3. Fun read Sha. Thx for taking the time to photo and post. I always thought the first incarnation of Mr M looked like Don Rickles.
  4. The gloss on the Fantastic 3 is stunning. This cover and National 7 were the two that I fell in love with when I discovered Lou Fine along with his Ray and Black Condor stories reprinted by Alan Light. I wish I had the foresight back then to buy copies of these books back then. Some other covers like Wonderworld 4 and Hit 5 were a couple of others. Oh yeah, I didn't have any money - glad there was a reason But at least I have managed to acquire National 7, Wonderworld 4, and Hit 5 but the Fantastic 3 will likely forever elude me - too few of them and my wallet is too lean
  5. With his wing span, I thought he could just spin fast enough and take flight without any mechanical contrivance.
  6. Yep - I had posted the exact same thing in an earlier question. Would love to have this back.
  7. The old format showed the join date below the avatar (or in that area). This was handy especially in the buy and sale venue. Post counts are somewhat meaningless as someone can ramp up that number fairly easily. With name changes, it is hard to track who everyone is and to save the trouble of looking at the user profile to see how long they have been around, it would be nice to see that date on the post itself in case the user name is not recognized easily. I tend to be a lot more comfortable buying from longer established members.
  8. I thought he also had and posted several Cheslers and Harveys but it has been a while so my memory may be off.
  9. From little girl in trouble to little girl in trouble being saved
  10. Ghost variant. By the way, there are counterfeits of this book. You can tell a fake if the back cover looks like this:
  11. Yep, post away. I am a serial fanatic. Have a ton of 60s and 70s fanzines on the serials plus many hardcovers. Although worthless, I also have a collection of countless serials I bought on VHS. And a small smattering of lobby cards as well. Throw out some Buster Crabbe, Tom Tyler, Bela Lugosi... By the way I picked a copy of A Job for Superman by Kirk Alyn. The copy is signed by Alyn - don't have a scan of mine but for those who have not seen the book - here is a pic of the front cover.
  12. I thought/think remaindered books would get a .5 but I don't remember seeing too many graded copies. Someone had a AF 15 that had almost the top third of the cover gone which was deemed either just a part of cover missing or a botched up remaindered copy. IIRC, it received a .5. Here is a SS example I did find (not mine).
  13. Neither - both have Robin (Really I am not a Robin fan but I too would go with 45)
  14. I just now noticed there is no chest emblem on Bats on that cover. Scales to Hourglass
  15. This will be EPIC. I so fondly remember Jon's articles in CBM along with Pat Calhoun's contributions to the magazine. Always enjoyed and amazed the knowledge and when I joined here, posts he made and treated us to pictures of his fantastic collection over the years. Good luck to Jon and probably moreso to those with deep pockets who will be bidding.
  16. Great book, Gino. Love this cover and it presents very well for the grade.
  17. Thanks Paul Amazing how that bulge-master in the ad above not only slims the waist but also makes shapely, perky breasts
  18. I have been impressed (surprised may be a better word) at some the realized prices on their earlier auctions. They hold their own against the big boys even if the selection is not as robust. I only look at the GA sections and for this weekly auction, predominantly lower grade books so maybe this format is where they might move some of the lower valued items. I don't mind more auctions. If there is something I am interested in, I can bid, if not, I pass. It's like college football bowl games, I really don't care there are so many, I watch the ones I want and to be honest, I would rather see two 6-6 college teams play than pro bowling, not that there is anything wrong with that. I guess the real test is if the prices suffer and sellers stop consigning, it will determine the viability.
  19. Cool book, Jon. That Village of Vultures splash is wild and unnerving.
