In today.  A couple of inexpensive Argosies with Woolrich stories:

Does anybody know if this title was factory trimmed?  It seems like most copies for sale are listed as trimmed, and it certainly looks neat to me, without the normal loss of text or narrow margins I see on most after the fact whole book trims like this, if it was indeed trimmed.

Also, while I knew Brundage did the cover, I had no idea she also had 10 (!) illustrations to go with the story:

I believe it was factory trimmed.  Just looked at multiple listings on HA and all appear to be trimmed without it being noted, and I can't find any with an overhang.    

Looking on ebay, I see MCS listing a few as trimmed, but they also have a fine copy without the notation and to my eyes no overhang.  Skimming through multiple listings I don't see an overhang, even on a cgc 7.0 copy.

Definitely factory trimmed, and there's a couple issues where the title text at the bottom will even be cut off (not my copy).

Brundage did the covers for 7 and 9 (last ish), but both are pretty different from her usual look .  A funky pulp, it was published by Sun in Chicago who took over 10-Story Book at the end of the life of that (awesome and underappreciated) mag and put out a humor mag called Lulu as well.  I don't think there's any relation to the Chicago paper?  Some well known pulpsters and some not so well known doing historical adventure - Talbot Mundy, REH, E Hoffman Price, Seabury Quinn, Johnston McCulley.  Art from Harold Delay, Jay Jackson (particularly interesting as a black man working in the world of pulp illustration), Harold McCauley, Brundage (she's got illos in #7 as well as #9), James Carr, Maurice Archbold.  More illustration for your dollar than your average pulp - maybe because it was in competition with Blue Book that published similar fare and also had a lot of illustration (one of the best illustrated pulps ever if you ask me).

I went to a New Jersey comic show last Sunday which had a couple of pulp vendors. (It was actually my first in-person show in 5 years; so nice to be back.) What a pleasant unexpected surprise to meet for the first time our own @AnkurJ, who sold me the lovely book below. Man, I thought *I* was enthusiastic about pulps but Ankur makes me look like I'm falling asleep. Great guy to talk shop with! Thanks again Ankur, a real pleasure!

Ankur is the man. He turns up some pretty sweet coins too, what they used to call a "vest pocket" dealer. GOD BLESS ....

Great find!!!!  This is an AMAZING cover!!!!  Nice Job!!!!  Looks like the pulp is in a higher grade too!

Thanks! It's got some resto touchups on cover and spine. But tough book and a pretty one for sure.
