sborock
Lots of great stuff in this thread! It has inspired me to post a bit of my collection here. Alas, most pieces I have bought in the last few years are not framed due to space limitation in my home. alxjhnsn
I'm slowly converting a bedroom into a library that will feature my books, comics, and comic art. Step one - evicting a daugther. Done! Step two - clean out the room. Done! Step three - hang some art. Done! Lots of steps left, e.g., book cases and comic storage. Still, it's fun to get this far after 30 years in the house and three daughters. The art will move once I decide on the book case arrangement, but for now it is good. alxjhnsn
Thanks, Steve. The Superman, the Sugar & Spike, and the front cover of Santa and Rudolph are from Heritage. That room was a study for Kathy when the girls were little. Now, they 2 out of 3 have moved out, I'm reclaiming it. We opened the wall between it and the den so that we have better flow at parties so I lose some wall space, but that's okay. I'm glad to have some. Garf
Wowza! Great art, guys!!! Dan +1 Really love the John Watson painting. As well as being super talented he's such a nice guy! Have seen quite a few framed pieces on here now and have to say I kinda like the idea of framing up pages so they are seen in their entirity within the border of the mat / mount. I have framed most of my stuff up so the mat / mount covers overlaps. I am going to have to rethink about cutting it all wider but am goingg to live with it a while longer for now because it's not quite all up and I haven't lived with it for that long. jick
I just upgraded all my framed art to non-glare glass. It was a chore because I manually did it myself - didn't trust having them all out of my possession at once. These are night shots so quality is not good. If you want better quality check my CAF page here: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=66134 I'd also accept suggestions on how to arrange or order them. I will label pics clockwise starting from upper left. Action 595 Byrne Splash, Garcia-Lopez Style Guide Cover 94, Swan Superman Splash, Schaffenberger World of Krypton opening splash Malang Filipino strip art, Tony Velasquez Kengkoy Filipino Strip art circa 1937, Dan Decarlo Jughead Cover, Mandrake DC Retroactive Batman Cover, Byrne MTU 62 Commission, Rubinstein Flash 254 Recreation, Wagner Batman 639 cover, Aragones Groo Frontispiece, Aragones Rufferto Back Cover, Nestor Redondo Filipino Comics Mandrake, Byrne, Andru/Byrne Action 599, Swanderson Superman Annual, Byrne Man of Steel, Rubinstein, Wagner Another view, not sure why I took so many pictures. If you see light, that is unavoidable because it's night and of the angle. But at least I don't see reflections anymore. This glass is really good. Kirby Superpowers Final Page Large Size The highest part of my room because without them our hobby would not be possible - signatures of Siegel, Shuster, Bob Kane in one page - also has Jerry Robinson, Joe Kubert, Jerry DeFuccio and Jerry Robinson Signatures above door, Kane Action 45th Anniversary Cover, Neal Adams Batman Illustrated Splash, Mike Decarlo Legion 38 commission, Rubinstein X-Men Commission, Perez Infinite Crisis 7 Cover, Ordway Man of Steel TPB Cover There you go -- hope you enjoyed and let me know if you want a closeup of anything here but you can probably find it in my CAF page anyway. Garf
Great collection and well worth the time and effort to have them up and displayed like that. You must ge a lot more enjoyment out of them rather than having them sat in portfolios.
