OK this one takes the cake. He listed this ASM Annual #1 THE SAME DAY HE BOUGHT IT! Clearly the same book...same scan...and it went from VG to VF without even receiving it. Wow...what an absolute TOOL!

I love the original sellers description:

"Cover Gloss With Lots of Some Light Reflectivity.

Off-White to Yellowing Supple Paper.

A True Gem"

Just think, if he sells to a like-minded flipper then the grade will just keep going up.

You mean if I wait a bit I can get some 9.8s? :D

Now THESE are the same book.

Nice mark up. I should start doing this. Seems to be good money in it. :whatev:

Yeah, you're going to do well dealing in mostly high-demand Silver and Bronze books that you buy as VG and sell as VF. The fact that he has pretty decent feedback on massively overgraded books is yet another illustration of why this kind of business plan will always succeed: Lots of suckers out there!

Sounds like the business plan of many old school comic dealers....

That's good research. I see no problem with you sending these to people who buy from him. But I would recommend doing it without any opinions. Let the links and pics speak entirely for themselves.

I bought a raw book from him that still had the archival paper in it...

I put archival sheets in all my GA books. I've had one guy freakout because he thought I had cracked a slab and sold the book raw, which I didn't....but so what if I had? As long as I didn't lie about the grade or resto.

True enough!

I do this as well, I don't think many people know that Comicsupply sells them. they think only CGC has them I guess.

He is providing decent pictures. In the case of the raw books, why should he be forced to use the previous owners grades? If he isn't breaking out PLODs and selling them as unrestored, and I didn't see that, why can't he grade them as he sees fit.

Do any of you go by the sellers grade or do you examine the scans provided?

He seems no worse than your typical ebay overgrader to me.

Yes, these sheets are easy to get. Blick has archival sheets as-well.

Back in 2003 a fellow posted here and asked CGC if there was any place that he could

buy acid-free archival sheets. CGC said no, that they had an exclusive on them.

I gave the fellow Blick's (then it was DickBlick) web page. I believe he was happy. :)

Shad...see the ASM Annual #1 example links I posted earlier. When someone buys a comic on eBay and post it for sale THE VERY SAME DAY with a bump from VG to VF without ever laying hands on it, that is WAY above and beyond your typical eBay overgrader.

And believe me, that is not the only example of this behavior. I've been watching this dirtbag for awhile after he outbid me a few weeks ago on a GS X-Men #1 which I happened to find up for sale by him...that same evening...with an upgrade from FN+ to VF/NM. Same book, same scan from auction he had just won hours before. meh

Problem is, he did break out a restored book and sell it as unrestored. Link
