DocGo
I know I'm in a small minority of people who collect CGC Bone comics but I thought it would be nice to see what we all have stashed away in our collections. My eventual goal is to have a complete set of #1-55 with the following additions: Sourcebook #1, 10th Anniversary #1, #12 Wizard Ace Edition, #13 1/2, Trilogy Tour I #1, Trilogy Tour II #1, Rose #1-3, Stupid Stupid Rat Tails #1-3, and the Holiday Special. Every three or four months I'll be sending raws to CGC that I'll hopefully display here. The following are a couple recent additions to my primary set: See my post in general for the story behind this one! : Self-Submission, tied for the highest grade with two others : I have a few more that I've acquired this year but I'll save them for later posts. Most of these books have beautiful, bright covers and they display quite well. Show us what you got... DocGo
Does anyone know if Thorn: Tales From the Lantern can be graded (Grails, perhaps)? I've wondered this for awhile until I heard about the problems associated with grading the Mirage Studios' Gobbledygooks and figured there were possible counterfeits out there. The seller who sold all those graded Bone comics between October & December put two of them up for auction during this period and I'm 99% certain that he would have sent them to CGC if he could (in fact, he was the seller of those PGX Gobbledygooks a couple months ago). Anyone have any insight?

Guest
Doc, I don't see why the Thorn issue can't be graded. Even if there are counterfeits out there, look at the Cerebus 1 counterfeits. CGC has graded 8 of those so far and labels them as such. I can only assume from what I've heard that many of the Thorns are not in the best shape and sellers don't want them coming back in low grade slabs. The ones that are keeping their books probably have no desire to have them slabbed and enjoy opening them from time to time. I am sure that eventually, we'll start seeing some of them hitting the census, especially with the recent large sale of the 9.8 Bone #1. Here is a stock image of the definitive Bone One Volume Edition. Time Magazine named it one of the ten greatest graphic novels of all time. I consider it in the top five. From your scan, it looks like it was professionally made but not seeing one graded led me to believe they may be closer to what the Gobbledygooks look like and would thus be easier to counterfeit (I read that this is the reason the original Gobbledygooks won't be graded by CGC). I believe the two that were sold late last year were listed as Fine+ and Very Fine. There was one that kept going up on ebay a couple months ago without an image. Every other day I'd ask the seller for a picture with no reply. Users kept bidding on it though, but it never reached the reserve nor did it ever have scan. Guest
Not really, in the way of extras. Just a nicer presentation. The inside front and back covers do have new artwork in the form of a map that covers Boneville and beyond. Definitely worth having.

Mr. Spider-Woman
I actually just read my first Bone comic early today. It was issue #4 from Image and although I thought the artwork was great, I have never been one for anthropomorphic animals (just what the heck are the Bone cousins supposed to be, anyway?) and Bone was no exception. Same thing goes for Cho's Liberty Meadows. Wonderful artwork, the talking animals simply do not work for me. Which is odd, considering all the other fantastic elements that go into comic books that I do read and enjoy.

However, if you take the series as a whole, there's only a small sprinkling of anthropomorphic animals (if you don't count the rat creatures that is). The storylines in which the occur the most are the following: Out From Boneville (Bone #1-5) & Rock Jaw: Master of the Eastern Border (Bone #28-32). Only Roque Ja, a giant mountain lion, is a major character. While we're on the subject, here's a shot of my Cartoon Books Bone #4:
kidcolt
I have all the TP including "Rose" and the "Rat Tails" specials. I think Bone is one of the best stories out there and its one of very few series that I read every issue.
