comicnoir
Looks like this is in the new Signature. Except it's obviously Thorton. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/illustrations/matt-baker-flamingo-comic-strip-promotional-illustration-original-art-phoenix-features-c-1952-/a/7169-93023.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 Ricksneatstuff

Sqeggs
Is it just the look of the figures that convinces you two that it's Thornton or are there other factors involved?
Ricksneatstuff
I was set and arranged to buy that piece but some doubts were raised here. I believe the seller fully believes it is Baker but too many doubts for me to be comfortable. Ultimately the seller became uncomfortable with my uncertainty about the piece as well. Still a very nice piece, but I am looking for One Baker original and want it to be the right one.
Sqeggs
Unless we know something about the piece's provenance, I don't know how we can nail down who the artist was.

The faces aren't Baker, and the figures look stiff. I own several Flamingo dailies and you can tell, especially if you've looked at them for years the way I have. Sqeggs
At this point, I'm agnostic on this issue, but I don't see the Flamingo drawings in the Heritage piece as being markedly worse than the Flamingo drawings in kat123's promotional flyer. MBFan
Had Matt Baker drawn the HA piece, the face would look like the 1st example here. For one thing, Baker consistently gave Flamingo more forehead. Edited October 26, 2017 by MBFan

comicnoir
Alright here's one of my OA's. To me there's a world of difference between this and the promotion piece. sacentaur, Yorick and torontodesignguy

Or more I don’t know about at that price range but there are some pieces that carry his sig. That’s the only way to be 100% sure. Otherwise any art or even books now you are going to have to put faith in someone’s opinion which in many cases they stand to make extra $$$ by calling it a Baker. Conflicting interests to say the least.
