Canada Post just doesn't provide tracking for certain places.

now I'm only asking here because the person who bought the book is sending me messages on the boards asking.

I don't ship to a lot of places because its too expensive so I can't imagine sending the book to Germany without him convincing me or sending me some messages about it where I would have said tracking through canada post isn't happening - but the only reason I have posted this here and am asking for advice is because I don't want to be put on the PL for something as stupid as this.

I offered him a $40 refund.

You are too nice. It is the 8 month wait as much as anything that bothers me. Take Walmart for example. They accept returns for just about anything for just about any reason. But even there I think I would get laughed at if I showed up 8 months after the transaction. Even if international shipping was crazy slow (1 month?) he has had 7 months to say something!!!

Ok can I change the subject from Symbiotic to Jimmy Linguini?

I'm not sure what to do in this situation.

So someone bought a CGC slab from me in November 7 of 2013 on ebay. I was contacted for the first time June 26 on the boards to be alerted that the item did not arrive.

The buyer lives in Germany. I had $100 insurance on the package but the window to make a claim through Canada Post is 4 months and tracking is not provided.

Now the slab was $49.99 and I'm assuming shipping was around $35.

What do I do in this situation?

had the buyer contacted me sooner I could have been recouped through insurance however now that the buyer waited 8 months I lose the book and any money I send to them as a refund? (even though I covered myself getting insurance?!)

Never, ever ship overseas for one. Like you said, no tracking, that's a major problem. He could be staring at the book right now and you would have no way of knowing. That sucks man.

Why did the buyer wait so long? Shipping overseas is fine.

Yea as long as there is tracking, I will never ship anything anywhere without tracking ever again. Been screwed to many times. Jus sayin

How many times is too many times? Where overseas did you ship?

twice. lol Slovakia and Spain. I just don't ship internationally much anymore. I have shipped art to Spain, Canada, and Europe. It cost to much money to ship there. Plus the custom forms import holds and whatnots. I have one guy that I buy/sell to in Canada and he's the only one that I feel comfortable right now shipping to. He once sold me a piece of art that sat in customs for 6 weeks I was losing my mind. Not that I wouldn't ship something somewhere but it will have tracking and signature confirmation and the buyer will have to pay.

Today:

I don't dispute anything Harvey brought up. I'm ashamed of my actions and deserve whatever punishment is deemed fit.

There's no need for a poll after I ship the last of these orders I'll be leaving the board for good

I do deeply appologize. You are a great community that I don't deserve to partake in.

Today:

Not arguing, I was in the wrong, but is this truly worthy of me not being able to partake in this board anymore. I've made plenty of legit sales to happy customers. Sure I've rubbed many the wrong way, but I've done my best to right my wrongs, and will continue to strive to be better.

If the poll is a landslide and everyone wants me gone, I'll leave no problem. But otherwise is it that bad for me to sell books at good prices to those who are interested, and those who despise me can just ignore me?

I believe that's what we call a "flip-flopper."

Tracking is an option to Germany. ;)

From Canada Post. Its like $90 for a letter. Do they offer it? Yes, is it more expensive than an aliens abortion? Yes.

Think about that for a second.

So general consensus is that PL doesnt apply and it turns into a public opinion poll?

$60 vs $35 for a slab.

More importantly, WHY DID HE WAIT 8 MONTHS TO BRING THIS UP?

I believe that's what we call a "flip-flopper."

The interesting thing about his concern about being on the HOS... what does it effect other than $$$? HOS is a good tool to protect people from repeat offenders in the marketplace or eBay. It's strictly relate dr o $. Solarcadet is on the HOS and it hasn't stopped that psychopath from :blahblah: and :whee: all over the place on the Boards.

You know this guy just had a "gulp" moment when he realized making money here will be a lot harder on the a Boards. :ohnoez:

He doesn't care about this place or talking about comics. It's allllll $. That's why he just flip-flopped about being on the HOS. That's why his "I'm going to take time away from the Boards for self-reflection" is BS. Every time he has returned, where has it been...

And I'm not defending the guy's actions. I think its sad that it's come to this as the HOS should be reserved for the truly scummy guys; red rocks comes to mind.

And honestly when you think about it, maybe solarcadet1 shouldn't be in the HOS...but I digress.

So the guy isn't scummy because he doesn't dink around with expensive books, only cheap ones? What if he was selling an Action #1 but used a reprint as a stock photo?

And solarcadet1 definitely deserves his lumps.

If only HOS members could get banned so he wouldn't have to quote me and talk at me every time I make a post he's interested in. :wishluck:

I do NOT understand why someone on the HOS is tolerated around here.

:eyeroll:

When we as a community put someone in the HoS, it's like we kicked them off the island in Survivor. Yet the producers have decided to just let them hang around. It's odd.

Solarcadet could just FIX THE PROBLEM, and get off the HOS. But he doesn't. He thumbs his nose at this entire community, and nothing happens.

Meanwhile...well...best not go down that road.

I've never once cheated anyone out of money,

You're right, it wasn't once. It was many times.

I believe he was also the same guy who said that when he came back from self exile that he wouldn't sell anymore and if he was caught selling he should be banned on sight.

Poverty Row is going to come back to this thread and be very, very angry.

I need to send you a friend request on Facebook to see what you mean by there being more drama there than there is here.

You're a way better man than me - he waited way outside of anything approaching a reasonable amount of time to broach that question. Way, way too long.

I would not refund anything, the 8 month wait would have all sorts of alarm bells going off for me.

I've never once cheated anyone out of money, I'm the first to refund if the customer doesn't like the product. I've even offered on many occasions to ship books without payment, and after the buyer judges that they like the slab they can pay at their own leisure.
