conditionfreak
It is worth that price IMO. Down the road, that same book will be worth double that. Maybe two or three years from now.

Flash105
I think that is a very nice price. If the price jumps are reasonable, the book will stay hot longer.

showcase22gr1959
The second highest GL 1 graded copy sold today by Mound City auction for $29000 plus buyer's premium. If Showcase 22 8.5 is the second highest copy, does that mean it is also value around at least $29000 and 9.0 at least $40000. That 8.0 is a steal at $17850. I dropped out of bidding on the GL #7 when it passed the $2K mark. I really feel like a fool for selling my 9.2 a couple years back now.

I couldn't imagine what your old GL 7 9.2 would sell for these days...whom would have known. Judging from the good results from this auction, the vintage comic market is very healthy. I really think quality material will always be in demand and good long term investments.

Seems like buying quality material at the right price and holding has been a good choice for the last five years. Let's hold on for another five years and see how the market will be. Heck, even some of the lesser copies, like the 8.0 GL #15 at $400 and the 8.5 GL #18 at $600 are very strong prices.

In 2011, some will say "where were you in 2009, you could have bought SC22 for 1/ 2 the price". Yesterday's Mound City auction is dominated by both DCs and Marvels, and we have seen some strong interest on SC22 8.0 (considered 9.2), and especially DC 9.0 and especially 9.2 and up. Marvel 9.4 and up is where the sweet spot is. Edited November 2, 2009 by showcase22gr1959

I was shocked at the prices for the 8.0 GL #15 and 8.5 GL #18, but they are not that easy to find in high grade.

dem1138
As these are the final auction values listed on "iCollector" I wouldn't make any amount official just yet. We'll probably have to wait until after the auction for final actualized prices.
