I apologize in advance if this is another boardie's copy as I do not mind to offend anyone. :foryou:

However, I was just looking at the HA listings and how does a copy with this large of a corner missing from the back cover (the top right corner tip missing on the front cover and it looks like the bottom staple is starting to pull through the cover as well) still get a 5.0?

If it wasn't the chip on the back cover...that book is a 6.0. Regarding that bottom staple: it also goes around the back cover a little. That chip is a bit too much...but that's CGC again. How 'bout the SC22 club gives it a 4.5. (thumbs u

I can't see it being a 6.0 without the missing corner on the back due to the chip out of the top right corner. I would knock it down to a 5.0 starting grade just with the front cover damage, and then drop it to a 3.5 due to the back cover personally.

I respect your grade...It would be best to see it on hand. That chip is just too BIG.

Or we may just pull the 22 and keep it!!

I would be greedy on this one. How many copies above 6.0 are at least off/white to white...I have only seen three so far. I'm still waiting to see another 6.0+ white pager or any white pager (there is a low grade one). The bidder knows SC22 is hard to find in off/white to white and this is the highest page quality for any 7.5+ and is unmatched. You may perhap make a new record price. (thumbs u

Prices were down or may I say "crash" across the border for the Silver Age in last week's ComicLink fire sale. The crash is similar to the 1987 stock market crash which was around 25%. It created the buying opportunity for quality Silver Age keys. Also, it is currently a down market. Nonetheless, many collectors of Silver Age Marvel and DC's got affected.

The copper and moderns has been hit for a while already...it some cases, even more severe. If you are looking for some great key moderns, buy now. I'm already beginning to nibble at them. :ohnoez:

A 7.5 on C-Link has an offer of $12k. Having invested $10.5k in it, that's a solid return of 14%.

SC 22 is still hot. Don't base prices on that one Mound sale as it's been pressed (restored). Many collectors just don't prefer pressed books.

Let's wait and see other sales before we jump the gun. But, you are correct in that the ultra high prices have softened. :preach:

Ryan, based on another CGC 5.0 that I own that grade looks about right. My book is missing a similar sized chip on the front cover.

Does it have another chip missing from another corner as well?

Sorry, but anything with a piece that large out of it should not be a 5.0 IMHO. Heck, even by old school OSPG guidelines a chip like that is only acceptable on a VG if I recall correctly.

It's actually got pieces missing out of 4 corners. Top right (tiny), bottom left (small-medium), bottom right (fair size) and bottom left back cover (tiny). The total sum of pieces missing might be similar.

However, some of the QualityComix auction prices on SA books were better than Clink (say, the 6.5 FF #1). :baiting:
