Time will tell. I am going to take a break from collecting for a bit and decide what to do next. And, unlike the last couple of times, this break will be for more than a day or two. lol

No. As soon as the last dozen books come back from CGC next month and are sold, I will take a break until this fall before starting to buy anything new again (at least I hope I can last that long).

I have finally received some internet access (I am active Military, currently deployed overseas) and I am actually amazed at the prices that I am seeing from the above recap.

Not too long ago (approximately 4 years), I was able to purchase (subsequently sold, unfortunately) a very nice copy for under $500. I sold it a short time later as money was tight, but it appears I should have waited. It is a wonderful book to be able to own.

Showcase 22 didn't do much the until 2008 and became explosive in 2009. If you are planning to own it again, you can still purchase graded 2.5 and under for less than $1K.

If it just had the creasing and surface wear, I would peg it at a 3.5 at the most. Add in what appears to be a light stain on the back cover along the spine at the bottom staple (and bottom of the spine) and possible oxidation/transfer at the staples on the centrefold, and it is likely a 2.5/3.0 copy at best. Basically, almost 3x the going rate.

The biggest question in my mind is if there is water damage along the spine where it appears that the stain is and if it has caused rusting on the staples. If yes, then it is a sub 4.0 book for certain.
