It's not fair to compare 1950's stories with 1970's stories

DC was a scam in the 1970s. Pretty covers, sandwiching total doge.

Thankfully they had Neal Adams drawing half their covers in the first half of the 1970's

Marvel.

DC has it's moments and great characters but years of imaginary stories, Super Horse, Superbaby, Superman, 40 flavors of Kryptonite, Super Jimmy Olsen, Super Lois Lane, Super Soaker, Super Lana Lang, SuperCat, Superdog and all the other awful story ideas make 99% of DC unreadable.

When I want to curl up with a classic comic SA Marvel is my choice.

Wrong. Yes, DC's output in the 60s was pretty grim (with the exception of Doom Patrol) but by the 70s it was producing better product than Marvel in war, western and of course horror.

Yes, Marvel had the better characters, but Swamp Thing, Deadman, Green Lantern, Batman, Jonah Hex and all the war titles were a cut above doge. There's being partial and then there's being partisan...it was DC that got me into comics originally - specifically the horror stuff and Swamp Thing. Back in the day I always thought Marvel was too bombastic and pleased with itself.

That said I like Marvel about the same as DC. It's possible to like both equally. :preach:

Those numbers don't mean anything. You can't read or collect circulation numbers (well you can, as I just read the ones you collected and posted, but you know what I mean). You don't get nostalgic for circulation numbers. And most importantly, those numbers don't reflect current demand for those books, which means most of those books didn't stand the test of time.

In conclusion, DC wasted a lot of trees in 1967, and ASM rules.
