It looks like you are going to have a challenge getting a Chinatown copy.

CGC won't put it on the label.

I seek out pedigrees regardless of CGC but I thought that Billy's goal was one of each CGC-recognized pedigree.

i want 'em all too, but this specific project started out, as the very first post says,as a run of the "cgc recognized [now or formerly] peds."

i have books from harold and eldon and from cookeville and new hampshire and detroit.... they're just not a part of this thread. i wasn't trying to dodge books, as my choice to go for any ped with books prior to s'case 4 shows. i just figured the cgc label would take care of authentication issues as opposed to books that one couldn't be sure about.

maybe i need to start a "not recognized [now or ever] by cgc g.a. ped thread."

Billy, do you have a Windy City in that collection of yours?

yankee1.jpg

Billy, I think you may need to look for another Windy City for your pedigree run. I didn't remember this title being in the collection so I double-checked my records to see what the original grade was for the book and confirmed that there was no listing in the original inventory. I then checked all the photos I have of all the books and it does not show up in any of them either.

It's a shame that dealers in the late 80s were representing any nice GA number one with C/0W pages and/or a dusty cover as a Windy City. Clearly those characteristics aren't definitive enough to prove the claim.

This photo has most of the big books of the 1930s and early 1940s.

Awesome thread and accomplishment Straw-Man!

(worship)

i've accomplished nothing! nothing! thanks to my former friend, moondog.

How does the saying go - don't shoot the messenger?

:tonofbricks:

A true collector like Billy Parker would have it no other way. If there's one person who can handle the truth - it's Straw-Man!

I can't wait to see a true WC in his unbelievable collection!
