Fun With Vampirella 8 ((Guess the Grade))

Just got my first magazine submission back today!

 

Here is one of the books....Guess the Grade and win a prize!

 

Obvious defects include:

- 1 very tiny spine stress next to the "N" in NOV.

- 1 Color breaking spine stress half way down spine.

- Lower Left corner abraded.

- Back cover could use a little Wonder Bread treatment.

 

- Does page quality impact the grade? If so, it has Off White to White pages.

 

That "stuff" in the middle of the book is not on the book or the scanner bed. Must be between the inner and outer well?

those "defects" that you point out are pretty minor indeed.

 

i've looked this over twice now and can't find anything to nit pick other than what you mentioned. of course if this were easy, you wouldn't be listing it here, either. (so do i guess lower or higher?)

 

on that basis, i'm gonna go with 9.0

I say 9.2-9.4 range.

ooooooo, never graded a magazine before so i'm going to say 9.2.

I believe CGC is slightly more lenient on these bigger magazine-sized books.

 

My guess is NM+ 9.6.

My original guess is a 9.2 but i'm going with 9.4 because there are a couple of 9.2s already. Based on a recent submission of mags I got back they are definitely NOT being lenient on these.

I agree with LordRahl, I do not think that CGC was lenient on the mags that I got back, nor do I think that they were overly strict. I am happy with the grades that I got on the ones that I submitted.

 

With out further ado here is the grade on this one....

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Pimpy for getting it right. An honorable mention to those of you that were giving the range of 9.2 to 9.4. But, since Pimpy got it exactly correct he wins the prize. Drop me a PM with a place to ship it and your prize will be on its way.
