44 posts in this topic

while insurance is great, it still stinks when a good comic turns bad

Yup. I think about how many comics every day get lost or destroyed never to be the same again.

Here are the pictures.

The outer box you can clearly see a hole punched into it.

The second box is heavily dented in that spot.

Even with additional bubble wrap here is the result.

Well that just stinks Brian, really hate to see this happen to any book. Hope it does not become a situation where the auction house/post office point fingers at each other and you are left holding the buck, or damaged book in this case.

I had almost the exact same thing happen with some raw books recently, but it ended really well because the seller went above and beyond making up for the loss.

So fwiw, If decide you want the book pressed(and it would benefit from it) I would be happy to do so for free.

Thanks for the offer Ze- The book has a small dent on the the edge similiar to a thumbnail crease at the point of impact. It may be able to be pressed out, but currently it is no longer a 9.8. I just don't know what USPS did to cause this much damage. I've recieved cracked slabs which are no big deal to me but never a shattered and twisted slab.

Sorry Brian. I can just imagine the horrendous feeling when you saw the box.

Reminds me of the damage I had on a package once...had a big old puncture in it and clear through the book. Course that wasn't a thousand dollar book...

From the title of the thread, I was expecting this...

If I typed what I was thinking I would be banned from the boards.

Those satire books are fun to read by the way,

You need a hug. :foryou:
