First Cast Member of AMC's Walking Dead Source: The Hollywood Reporter March 26, 2010

The Ghost Writer co-star Jon Bernthal is the first actor cast in AMC's "Walking Dead," an adaptation of Robert Kirkman's graphic novel.

The project chronicles the months and years following a zombie apocalypse and revolves around survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe home.

Bernthal will play Grimes' partner and friend Shane, an outgoing bachelor.

Frank Darabont wrote the adaptation and will direct the TV pilot. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are executive producing with Darabont.

Soooo glad this will be on AMC and not a pay station like HBO :P

yeah, but it would probably be pretty good if on HBO, whereas AMC is a bit more hit and miss (though their detective comedies are good).

Hopefully looking forward to this show bringing about a surge in Zombie shows and movies (as has been happening with comics for the last few years) like the Vampire thing that's now happening.

To combine romance and zombies might not work as well as with vampires, but then there is the popular book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that I see now has a graphic novel version available (the prequel hit stores a couple days ago, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls).

Just found the trailer for the prequel book on youtube:

Note the tie in books now out...

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Zombie Jim: Mark Twain's Classic with Crazy Zombie Goodness

The War of the Worlds Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Mansfield Park and Mummies: Monster Mayhem, Matrimony, Ancient Curses, True Love, and Other Dire Delights
