innocuous
My strategy is to crack it out of the slab and stick it in Mylar. Now it’s in the PC. Timeless icons

drbanner
For those looking, there's a beautiful 6.5 copy in the current Heritage auction - The Incredible Hulk #1 (Marvel, 1962) CGC FN+ 6.5 Cream to off-white pages. There's also a killer 5.5 white pager but with serious MC, the kind that gives CGC grades to books with MC a bad name. Popular Post Atomic Rooster
Just upgraded to a 6.5 here. The plan was to sell my 5.5 once it arrived, but don’t think I can bring myself to part with it now. NightBreed74
Hello, I’m looking to acquire a 2.0-2.5. Found a 2.0 on Ebay listed at $12,399.60. Atlanta Classic Comics. Seller won’t respond to questions or offers. Does anyone have experience dealing with this business? Reviews online are mixed. The bad reviews paint a shady character. Also, the photos of the book are strange, each showing half of the book. No whole book pics. And the other books they have up for sale have normal photos. FWIW, i took a look and I have seen zoomed-in pix like these before, usually accompanied by a single pix of the cover (not present here). Seems like the missing single pix of the whole cover is no biggie here? Together, the provided pix show the full front cover and full rear cover in pretty good detail. The angling looks like an attempt to minimiz glare while also zooming in, with the benefit that the pix ended up giving more detail than you often see in eBay listings. I have nothing about the seller. Maybe he's just too busy or thinks that it's too obvious that his pix speak for themselves? Not ideal, but some sellers are not the hand-holding type. As for the feedback, the seller had 3,779 ratings, only ONE of which was negative during the past 12 mos, and that was not within past one or six months. It was for allegedly overgrading a high (VF/NM) raw. And only 7 neutrals the past twelve months, relating to packaging or the over-grading of higher-end raw books. This is a SLABBED book with detailed pix of a lower grade. So I don't see any "bad reviews" painting a "shady character" at all, especially as would pertain to the purchase of a slab. Anyway, good luck with your hunt. Edited May 15, 2021 by Pantodude NightBreed74 and KCOComics

If you look more closely at the advertising on his ebay listings, you’ll find the name of the business, Atlanta Classic Comics, and their website. I searched for reviews of this business. Some people in the reviews claim they gave the owner their entire collection to sell and never saw a penny of it, and that he stopped communication. I appreciate your help with the photos. The glare minimization makes total sense to me. Appreciate your time.

Appreciate your time. Your welcome! Don't know how much experience you have with eBay, but generally the seller's rep outside of eBay becomes less important if he has so much positive feedback on eBay. And here we are talking about a slab with detailed pix to guide you (and support you in the event of a dispute). On eBay buyers are pretty well protected because they can always return an item for full refund if not as described, even if seller says he does not accept returns. Pantodude
The above post makes me wonder why so few IH#1s in low grade come to market? Are they more likely to remain in long-term PCs? Edited May 15, 2021 by Pantodude NightBreed74

In case you don't have GPA (highly recommended that you get a subscription), it shows only THREE recent sales of IH#1 in 2.0: 2 books in 2019: 8/31/19 for $9,982 and 10/29/19 for $9,220; and one book so far this year for $10,701 last month. And GoCollect estimates an IH#1 in 2.0 at $10,500, noting most recent sale in April, too. So that eBay listing price is quite a bit above that. Whether or not that listing price is bad/decent/gooid depends on whether you think the book has appreciated in the past month, and even then, by how much. Figure that out first before making an offer or buying it outright from anyone. Edited May 15, 2021 by Pantodude NightBreed74

Figure that out first before making an offer or buying it outright from anyone. I appreciate that information. I will look into GPA. There are also two 2.0 copies in active auction on ComicLink as we speak. I’m considering each of the three books, depending on the two auctions play out; particularly the one ending first, which shows very well in the slab. The other book on CL has white pages, but is munched a bit on the front cover. Yes, the $12,399 seems high, which is likely why it hasn’t moved. But the low number of low grade copies available and the recent inflation of Marvel silver age comics makes it confusing to assess. Not sure if Hulk 1 has appreciated according to the recent inflation as say XM1 and some others. Edited May 15, 2021 by NightBreed74
