The Stan Lee Tribute UPDATED 4/29

 

There is a time when an opportunity comes around that can never be repeated. The Stan Lee Tribute will be taking place May 6th- 8th, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event will be that once in a lifetime opportunity. The living legend Stan “The Man” Lee will be honored by his friends, family and peers in a way that will never happen again. Those in attendance will be celebrating the legacy of the man who is without a doubt the most influential force in the comic book industry and who was responsible for the creation of more members of the Marvel Universe than any other human being today. Stan Lee will receive the Brenden Celebrity Star presentation, which is the Las Vegas version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on Friday, May 7th. The Brenden Celebrity Star presentation is part of a Stan Lee Tribute Weekend honoring the legendary creator for his seven decades of bringing entertainment to the world. Also taking place during the weekend will be an invited guest tribute reception and dinner hosted by The Walt Disney Studios. Taking place throughout the weekend will be a silent charity auction. ComicLink, in association with Desert Wind Comics, will present a Stan Lee Retrospective Exhibit featuring a display of Marvel Comics memorabilia valued at over $1 million. One of the highest graded original “Tales of Suspense” #39 featuring the first appearance of IronMan will be on display. The exhibit will be open to the general public during select hours throughout the weekend.

 

During this special weekend, Desert Wind Comics will be hosting a celebrity charity signing. Proceeds from this signing will be donated to benefit literacy causes championed by Stan Lee and the Stars Among the Angels, a non-profit organization supporting foster and at risk children. Listed below are the comic creators and celebrities that will be participating in this celebrity signing. Additional creators and celebrities will be announced as they become available. Submissions will be accepted for the various signings and CGC will be on hand to witness all signings for the coveted Signature Series Label. But this will not be just any regular signing. Every book graded by CGC will have a special line in the label stating who signed the book and that the book was signed and is part of the “Stan Lee Tribute Collection”. Also on the outside of the CGC case will be a special holographic label specific to this event. The price for each signing is specific to each participant. These signings will be limited in numbers so you don’t want to wait. Submissions will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis. The deadline for submitting all books is Wednesday, May 5th. Make sure to use a DWC submission form which can be found at desertwindcomics.com/index_files/SubForm.htm. Payment must be made by credit card, Paypal or check (make check payable to Desert Wind Comics). Note that all books will be sent to CGC and graded immediately after the event is over so additional signatures by creators not at the event can NOT be added. These prices include one signature charity donation, the CGC grading and encapsulation, the holographic sticker that is specific to the event, witnessing fee, prepping the book(s) and insurance once the books arrive in the DWC office. The price does NOT include any return shipping, handling, or insurance back to the customer. The return shipping to a US address is $15.00 for the first book and $2.00 for each additional book in the same tier. It includes up to $3000.00 insurance per package. Any additional insurance can be added at the rate of $1.00 per $1000.00 of insurance. Canadian shipping is $25.00 for the first book and $3.00 for each additional book in the same tier. Please inquire for shipping and insurance charges outside of the United States and Canada.

 

INK COLOR, SIGNATURE PLACEMENT AND SPECIAL REQUESTS?

Books will be signed in either black or silver ink. Additional color requests for this event are not being taken due to the restrictions of this signing. Special signature placement will cost $5.00 per request. If you are requesting a specific placement of the signature, please send either a Xerox copy of the cover and where you want it signed or mark on the outer bag or CGC outer casing (if sending a previously graded book) using a felt tip marker. You MUST allow at least a 2 inch high by 4 inch long box. And the signature must by at least ½ inch from any edge of the book. Please note that special placement can not be guaranteed and placement fee will be refunded.

 

ADDING AN ADDITIONAL SIGNATURE

If you want to add an additional signature, please use the added signature fee to the book you are adding the signature onto. (i.e. You are having Stan sign a modern tier book and adding Bob Layton. The cost would be $100.00 “Stan” + $30.00 “Bob” = $130.00)

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET THE BOOKS SIGNED?

A completely fill out Desert Wind Comics submission form MUST be included with the book(s). Failure to include such form may result in the books being returned to the customer at the customer’s expense. Please use the Desert Wind Comics submission form and follow the instructions listed in the information sheet. Payment must be made at the time the books are submitted and can be made either by credit card, PayPal, or personal check. Checks must be made out to Desert Wind Comics.

 

Please submit your book(s) in properly sized bag and board with each board labeled with your name, book title, issue number, and the talent you would like to sign each book. If submitting a previously graded books, please write your name on the back of the case with a felt tip pen. You MUST include the completed submission form with the books. I'm good to go. Sending 3 books for Stan's Sig's and the cool labels that come with this CGC. Mailing it off Friday!!!!

 

You did an excellent job on the GA CA #1 last year for me in NY in October !!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Take care of the books when you get them and unslab them. :) You can see them below in my siganture line.

Yellow labels are fine, CGC will be there, BUT there could be a problem with having enough room for the information about the Stan Lee Tribute on the label with other signature info there. So I am not sure what to tell you.

Out of curiousity, How many sigs could you have on one book from the tribute before you couldn't have a tribute designation on the label?
