Checking Ebay auctions lately I have noticed an increase in PGX books and that has surprised me. I will see people buying these on the cheap, I wonder if they realize that PGX has a bad rep, similar to the same people who buy Robojo books. You know they think they`re getting a deal hm

I'm sure there are a number of forumites that thought this at one point until they found out the details on here.

Buyers who also read messageboards must be a teeny-tiny minority.

At least that was the case during the Ewert fiasco. This board was glowing like hot-neon with the incident, but when we contacted his eBay victims they had no clue and were grateful for the contact efforts.

It's probably worse now with many boards doing clean-up efforts if scandals get too scandalous.

And our receptionist, Allison, is standing by to answer your calls rapidly and professionally.

"She" is not the only person he is impersonating. Apparently he is threatening to nuke us too :o

I just learned that when I put "Ryan Elliott North Korea" into Google, or was it when I was playing Command and Conquer? ???

Either way, CS forum members need lead and proclaim a Crack all your PGX slabs day and make this product and company disappear from the face of this hobby.

The only one I ever got ( unbeknownst to me at the time of purchase ) I cracked without any regrets. I wish I had taken a video to post.

I LOVE the idea. CGC should do this for board members like Marvel did with DC books of sending in the covers for a special comic.

I have a final 3-4 PGX books I want to submit, and would do it immediately just to wipe my collection of the fear that comes with this company.

CGC - please, please, please. Run a campaign.

I have bought quite a few modern PGX books and when I resubbed to CGC the grades were spot on

In the beginning I used PGX also for moderns. All my resubs to CGC came back the same or Higher.

What age (and value average) for the books?

I have found Copper Age to Modern Age that are below a certain dollar amount, you are safe (or better). But when we are talking about high-dollar books....

And you know I have benefitted from sending in one of your old PGX books, and it came back a CGC 9.8 WP.

+1 How about half-price grading on the books you send in with their PGX labels? From a marketing perspective, it's a genius idea anyway, regardless of these shenanigans...

The problem with messaging like this coming from CGC or this board is that it will look like company partisanship to 90% of outsiders. And it will actually drive those with the "sympathize with the underdog" mentality to PGX.

Frankly, when CGG/PGA/PGX first started, the vast majority of the animus aimed in their direction was simply that -- CGC fanboys thumping their chest. There was no evidence of real hijinx. However, since then, PGX has certainly done everything in their power to earn scorn and distrust. lol

I'd send this one in as-is just to see what CGC comes back with, and let them see ahead of time what it was graded at. And it is the only one in the PGX census.

From a marketing/PR perspective CGC should continue what they are currently doing -- ignore them. Addressing them in an official way legitimizes PGX.

Shhhhhh. You're messing up our campaign brainstorming session just for board members.

Nothing all Dollar. All 1980 - 2006

Daniel is just tough on Moderns from my experience in dealing with him. And no one needs to tell me about all the 9.9's he gives out.

How can he be tough on moderns when he gives out 9.9's like they're going out of business?

My experience is the exact opposite - had a PGX 9.9 come back a 9.6, and I've never seen a modern PGX 9.8 that actually deserved to be in a 9.8 holder.

Just recently I picked up a PGX 9.6 Goon #1 - it had a 1" tear on the front, and a chip out of the back cover (none of which were visible in the seller's scans).

It's a complete myth that PGX is harsher on the high grades.
