ygogolak
The season was off to a strong start but that was probably the worst episode I have ever seen from all four plus years. Guess you missed all of last season. Especially if you read the comic. Edited November 3, 2014 by ygogolak
Rip
What the hell did I just watch? I hope to god that this was a 'dream sequence' or they have totally lost the plot. Power? Food? The world's best Laundry? Petrol etc. Utterly bizarre. Watchable, very watchable, but just such a huge tangent - I mean 3 years and there's still a functioning hospital?? WTF? I wouldn't call it much of a functioning hospital. Thumbs up. I like it when they stray from the comic. I thought they explained many of those questions throughout the episode. comicsnyc22
whether you liked last night's episode or not, I love the fact that I have absolutely no idea what's happening or where this show is going.
HarveySwick
I agree. Personally, I enjoyed the episode. If every episode was "action packed", I can see it getting old after awhile. I like that it is departing away from the book and we don't know what is coming next. 1) It makes everything "new" to readers of the book and 2) they always have the book to fall back to in case they start to run out of ideas. I feel like this will extent the life of the show. I'd be more concerned if they started rushing through the book in the show.
awakeintheashes
Judging by who's on Talking Dead next week, I think next week's episode is the no-battery episode.

Garf
Ok... just caught up. That episode feelt like an interlude to get them back on the road and moving again... very strange. It was a bit like they had taken bits from "The Best Defense" and "This Sorrowful Life" that were originally seen in Woodbury and revisited it. The zombies in the basement eating. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1111345&GSub=105591 The amputation. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=445001&GSub=67745 The doctor caught in the middle. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1145799&GSub=159234 Wonder if he will eventually try to atone and help them escape only to get bitten? Dunno, it's not the same but it has a familiar ring to it. Woodbury was slightly different in the TV series anyway so it feels a bit like a reappropriation. Which is fair enough looking at the pace at which the TV series is catching up the comics.
PhAnTaSmV
I wish the hospital was only half the episode because it definitely dragged out. Also, next week will probably be all of Abraham's group, so we won't see who is with Daryl until after!

I didn't hate the episode but I didn't love it either. Less talk in' more walk in' works for me.

I think Gimple wanted to include those scenes and interactions in the show at some point. As a reader and student of the comics, Gimple understood how these scenes connected with readers during the Governor saga. Glenn Mazarra left them out, most likely due to his incompetence and lack of grasp of the source material.
Garf
Yes... It doesn't seem as off piste as a lot of people are making out. Also the I think it's in the preview for next week that they ask Eugene "why the hair?" which is a nice little inside joke nod to the comics too. My brother asked Adlard last year if there was any characters he would redesign given the opportunity and that hair came up as part of the answer... But ofc it has been questioned by others too. Kinda makes you feel sorry for Josh McDermitt having to rock the mullet. Hehe. I don't think he's taken to it off set though. edit: Edited November 4, 2014 by Garf
James J
So I'm not sure do they injure the people on purpose so the Doc can fix them up? Then they owe to much to work off ?
Beige
So I'm not sure do they injure the people on purpose so the Doc can fix them up? Then they owe to much to work off ? Why save them at all if they just have them mopping floors and washing uniforms? I still can't get around the issue that after 3 years and with weapons, they can have 15 walkers next to their patrol cars and holes in the fence? It made no sense. I'm all for a story tangent - I really am - but it just seemed 'unthoughtout' (if that's a word). Surely, as I said elsewhere - the first task would be the clear the bottom 2 floors, fortify the car areas, and work outwards. Little things...... just detracts from what could have been a much better original offshoot from the comics. I am actually beginning to wonder wether this becomes the place where Negan will eventually come from, rather than his 'home factory' in the comics. Perhaps Negan will appear down the track, take over the hospital and clean house - and form the Saviours. The basic inherent cruelty with the hospital group is already fermenting, someone like Negan would be a perfect fit as a new leader to a cowed group in the future. Could be But then why would you want to place yourself in the position of having to shoot your way to your Police Cruiser everytime you were scheduled for a patrol. Sometimes less ambiguity makes for easier viewing.
