I bought Lock & Key this week, the CBLDF Zombie cover book (only one left) and the least beat up Warlord of Mars.

 

Locke & Key because so many people seem to be raving about it and there was only 1 copy left by the time I got to the shop I figured I wouldn't have my heart broken seeing it in the dollar box in 3 months.

 

The zombie cover because...it looks cool. Even though at $4.99, a bit pricey.

 

Warlord of Mars because I generally buy the $1 books if I might be interested. A whole different analysis vs. $2.99 - $4.99 books where I have to think long and hard about it. Putting my money where my mouth is I guess because I/we complain about cover prices being too high. Can't really complain about $1.

 

Oh my bad, these were not speculation purchases, though when I buy I do have an eye toward buying stuff that has a better shot of retaining some of its value.

Nice try. Most everyone gets it. I have contributed very little this week. You contribute nothing weekly.

 

I have been straight out. NYCC was the single busiest show that I have ever set up at & I am at WW Boston now. Spread WAY to thin this week. Will be back to normal next week. Will post market reports for both cons. Met a TON of board members. Yesterday I humped CGC's booth display into WWBoston. Fun.

These characters are in cycles,anything that was popular once has a better chance of being popular again then something unknown. ASM 361`s still bring home money, yeah maybe the comicbook version is a joke but we dont know what the Hollywood magic will do. Look at Ironman considered a second stringer for years now his movies have grossed over a billion dollar dollars, the Venom movies are a few years away anyways. This weeks stuff looks weak, Carnage 1 may and I emphasis may have value at a later date. Will you put your child thru college with it? no, will you pay a future morgage with it? no but you may profit 5 dollars from it in the future. That`s about as good as it gets for a few modern books, Skullkickers,Morning Glories and Chew are a rare breed. So when I make my pick every week it means I expect maybe you will make few small dollars profit at a future date and that`s about it. I am doing this for fun. (thumbs u

possibly a major villian in the Venom movie.

I wonder what the print runs are for this and the variants

 

No self-respecting comic connoisseur would touch this.

 

Carnage has been a joke for years. Leave it for the comic plebes.

These characters are in cycles,anything that was popular once has a better chance of being popular again then something unknown. ASM 361`s still bring home money, yeah maybe the comicbook version is a joke but we dont know what the Hollywood magic will do. Look at Ironman considered a second stringer for years now his movies have grossed over a billion dollar dollars, the Venom movies are a few years away anyways. This weeks stuff looks week, Carnage 1 may and I emphasis may have value at a later date. Will you put your child thru college with it? no, will you pay a future morgage with it? no but you may profit 5 dollars from it in the future. That`s about as good as it gets for a few modern books, Skullkickers,Morning Glories and Chew are a rare breed. So when I make my pick every week it means I expect maybe you will make few small dollars profit at a future date and that`s about it. I am doing this for fun. (thumbs u

No problem I respect your opinion , it probally won`t be worth much but given what I had to pick from, that was the best I could come up with for this week. There is no Morning Glories or Skullkickers here.

It's hard to fathom there is someone out there who will someday pay $10 for that Carnage #1.

I can't think of anything to compare it to by Marvel in the last decade or so...

 

Iron Man may have been a second tier character, but he'd been fully established as holding his own book for 20 some years, as well as having been a major part of the Avengers. To compare him even remotely to Carnage is silly.

 

The Iron Man movies may have spiked some interest in his books, but far and away they sparked interest in his books that were already established as important.

 

Occasionally I hear about something in here I pick up to read like Morning Glories (ok) or SkullKickers (blah), but I still buy the comics I want to read. I figure Marvel has already corned the market on selling to fans as speculation.

 

Not trying to lay a turd on the thread. To each his own. I just hate to see Marvel constantly rewarded for putting out garbage, while there is still interesting moderns out there.

 

Looking forward to the new Charles Burns book.
