Archie 1 and being robbed for $1500

125 posts in this topic

Hey Roy,

Glad you made your sale on the archie 1 it was nice timing with big heritage sale 167k

Funny thing is that i got the showcase 22 two weeks later from clink.

If you need a showcase 22 cgc 6.5 i have i hand. I learned not to let clink hold my books for sale. Only to send the books once sold.

Btw once again sorry about making you wait on the book.

Also i would appreciate a post on the archie 1 thread. It seems that the wording is that i swindeled you from your archie 1. But in essence it was a trade that was never consumed. That is what your posts seem to imply.

Regards,

Holden

Hello everyone,

Just joined two weeks ago. Ive been lurking for awhile since someone told me about things that where said.

First and foremost i apoligize to Ed for the long dealing of our transaction. He was reimbursed.

I will be contacting Ed about something that might make him happy( just to let yiu know he was reimbursed quite long ago)

Btw Ed forgot to mention that he made a post here about archi

E 1 coverless and

As for for Roy . The above copy of the email i just sent him is self explanatory.

Even though i am new to the boards so was every one that started here.

I know i have a great porn name and yes its my real name.

I dealt with wayne-tec long ago and had the same fear. But he trusted and we ve a few times know. I also bought and made a trade deal with greg reece. Recently superman2006 came to me with this thread once again. I have references. I trusted him sent him over 5k in books! He got it today and he sent payment right away. Btw i will not do this to any boardie that asks unless its Gator, ft88, vintagecomics, bangzoom, mrbedrock, bangzoom, etc. Bassically anyone who is not danny dupcak lol. It was to prove a point: trust.

I am new here as mr bedrock pointed. I will make mistakes and hopefully boardies will help me out. But one thing is that i am a collector and share the same love of comcis and i can

be trusted.

Also Ed forgot to mention that i originally posted the archie 1 on clink fkr sale at 2k. He bidded 1300. He posted on these boards: whoerver has the archie 1 on clink please contact me.

I did not know the boards at that time. He then posted it on ebay for 10000k

I put an offer. We statrted exchanging and he wanted to buy my coverless archie 1.

He send the money. I call Clink. To send me back archie 1. They had it since it was on sale and i leave them some of my book. Shawn counted the pages. Said 60. Im still new and i guess so is shawn. It was complete. Great. Back to te story. Josh gets word( he reads the boards) and saw ed s thread about whoever has the archie 1 on clink contact him. Thats no-no. Post was removed and josh wanted his cut. Which is understandble since he earns bis living in the comicworld so does Roy, greg, etc.

So thats why ed had to wait so long. Had to makes thing cool with josh. Also made ed pay more than the 1500$ since josh had to get his cut. Also ed made a reference that it was expEnsive. Uh you have the cover i have the complete interior( so i thought at the time)

Ed gets the book and finds that its missing the centefold.

Josh calls me about the situation. I make a payment out to ed for half and two weeks later the rest.

Its easy to beat( no pun intended) a dead horse. But at least we have two sides to the story.

Btw ed called me twice about my archie and even posted archie 1 cover only for sale 2500$

In his description h

In his description. He says he has a contact for an archie 1 interior missing the centerfold.

Hmm ed wants people to contact a robber for his archie 1 . If i was a robber why would he say he has a lea on a archie interior?

I would like to make good and offer ed to buy his cover for 2500$

The money will be sent first if course and ill even throw in an archie 50!

My olive branch to Ed Bird!!! Ft88!!!

Hi Holden and welcome to the boards, I had asked your name on the other thread, hoping you'd give us some background, and now you have :foryou: It's always nice to hear the other side and as now, it often makes sense.

If you need page counts in the future, I'd recommend using this site, it's very helpful. Not sure it has all the Non Super Heroes, but it does come in handy. golden age index.

Hey Skypinkblue!

Ty and yes that's why i did not want to mention my name on that thread since i wanted to clear up my name here first. If anyone is interested it's on the gold section in let's see those ww2 jap**** covers. I think thatbthe thread is great to have and represents the history of that period but the title.... Well was let s just say outdated.

I started to get interested in gold comicstha a year ago even though i,more from the valiant image generation.

Thanks for the link.... I do have more dollars than sense ;) sometimes.

It' nice to see a broader spectrum of people collecting Goldenage books instead of shoes, euh rice( yes i can poke fun at myself) and age ( I still think pre-unity valiants are cool but nkt my 6 foil cover turok 1)

As a round up to the Archie 1 coverless. All that Holden has said is true. The main problem I had that appears to be skipped over a bit is the return process. Once I wanted to return the Archie 1 for a refund I was told no problem. So I return the book but then I can't get my money back and while Holden was very good about communication throughout the buying process, once a return was agreed to and the book was back in his hands, communication just stopped. This is via phone, ebay, comiclink everything for about 6 months.

I think most would agree that this is a huge red flag on $1500.

So if Comiclink wants to call me a scoundrel for going around them, so be it. But they had the book in hand and didn't catch the missing centerfold. Also, I was out postage in both directions so that sticks in my craw a bit especially since they charge me $14 to ship it out. They were very helpful though in making Holden know that a refund was required.

Holden has acknowledged not providing a timely refund but he did refund me 100% so he isn't a scam artist. I appreciate that.

Someone was asking for a low grade Archie 1 and I PM'd them about my cover and that I had a contact with a coverless (missing cf) if he wanted to go that route to try and marry them. I felt I had to caveate on Holden since I was referring someone with whom I had a bad experience, but he did have the book. I then priced the Archie 1 cover aggressively, as I didn't really want to sell it. I do collect Cartoon #1s BTW. As I recall, Holden then posted the coverless on ebay and got around $800 for it.

I think this thread has served it's purpose in a number of ways. I do believe it was a motivator in me getting my money back. It warned some people about buying from someone who (at the time) could potentially take your money. This turned out to be corrected towards me and at least one other board member. Holden is now aware that service matters and hopefully will be a reputable board member for a long time to come.

Think of what you're saying.

You can get it wrong and still you think that it's all right.

Think of what I'm saying,

We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night.

We can work it out,

We can work it out.

Life is very short, and there's no time

For fussing and fighting, my friend.

We can work it out.

Hey Sky,

Thanks for posting that link, it's always great to get a good reference site and that one seems to have some great information with the individual issues and characters as well as the various Golden Age publishers. :applause:

Just wanted to make an additional comment.

Holden has sent me PM's regarding the poor transaction and has made multiple attempts to rectify it lately. In the end he has bought my Archie 1 cover (I think with the intention of marrying it to the incomplete coverless) for my "I'm not really trying to sell it price" and threw in an Archie 50 to boot.

So to me that covers the past lapse and goes a long way to re-establishing his trust.

Ed
