Detective Comics #31 CGC 1.0 Unrestored on eBay

101 posts in this topic

The winning bidder will tape the front and back cover together, then reattach the covers to the interior with more tape, then resub for a 2.0-2.5. We'll see that book again on a consignment site in the very near future.

CGC says heavy paper missing on spine and at the very best would grade 1.5 with tape.

It shouldn't grade any higher at all. :sumo:

This book sold for 4k in summer of 2009. It came from the same collection my 26 and my old 32 (now in another boardies hands) came from. From this old timer who bought them as a kid. His daughter was selling them one at a time a few years back. I had contacted her and bought the only remaining issues she had. There is also a 35 from that collection roaming around somewhere.

Now my only question is how does every single tec have a full spine split from that collection. Thats what I wonder.

Im wondering if Rick made the deal privately. If so congrats!
not me. I was just going to finance it for the boardie that wanted it. Haven't been alerted to a deal so I am out of the loop right now

Well this is a darn bummer, why would they pull the listing when it was doing so nicely? hm

Unless they got an insane offer I suppose.

Anyone know what the last price was before it was pulled? Last I saw was $7,600.

From what I see, the last highest bid was $8500...I wonder too if it's an insane offer or seller's remorse. hm

I've been in conversation with the seller since the first few hrs of the auction. The book did sell, but not for an outrageous offer from where it was already at. Not sure it would be polite to post his response to me, so I will not. Was going to bid for a doctor friend who is frustrated with the market, and go halves. But thinking about it not sure if it's smart to do such a thing.

From what you said I'm going to guesstimate it was somewhere around ballpark 9K? hm

Surprised he ended it early for somewhere close to where it was at. Seems like he may have gotten a much higher price, the book still had 5 days to go on auction.
