Today when I went into the LCS I've been hitting for years.....they told me there's a 1 comic limit for any issue.

This happened only after I walked up with 3 copies of Helheim. Keep in mind that I've been there on and off for over a decade and change....and each time I go in I purchase about 2-3 copies of everything I collect. I've never been told there was any limitation....I wanted 3 copies....2 for me......1 for a friend.

My take: the last few months speculators have gotten this store's radar buzzing about Panzerfaust, Sixth Gun, Helheim, etc....

Now they're giving me the stiff-arm on comics. D*CKBAGS....

I told the "manager" that if he wasn't interested in selling me the comics that I'd take my business elsewhere.

Furthermore that usually I come back and see the same tired issues on the racks weeks later...only they're more beat up than a hooker at mardi gras.

If you're in the business of selling comics, sell them.....don't hold back stock for others. If they're on a pull-list that's awesome, but if it's on the racks it's fair game.

Tired of these aholes making up sh*t.

Smart store owners will tell you limiting copies increasing their customers by keeping book in stock for new buyers. No stock = No new customers.

I understand your point just saying many stores are starting to limit buys or hold back issues. Some are doing it for themselves while others are trying to keep stock for new customers or existing ones. My LCS holds back issues sometimes and sells 1 per customer no matter what. They might do it once or twice a year on very hot books coming out. I haven't seen them do it lately yet.

Funny part is... I don't know if anyone has ever had a shop that actually listed on the door with a sign "limit X per customer".

Seems like most wouldn't have a problem if they advertised it, they seem to only do it when you go to check out. J

This being based on most of the things I read on here.

My shop will tell you straight up no matter what book it is there is a strict 2 per customer limit. On ASM 700 it was a 1 per person limit and it was posted DIRECTLY below the issue.

If your "friend" wants a copy get him to go into the store and get it maybe they will pick up an extra book and in the end its a win for both the store (more sales) and your friend as they hopefully pick up a new title they like.

On the comic limit subject - maybe the store owner wouldn't have a problem if you pre-order everything you think you'll want extras of.

+1

Thanks for the Blackacre books JG

Glad you have them and are happy! (thumbs u

One day I intend to make a blue grass song about just how happy that shipment made me. I can hear the banjo already.

There's a shop in the Philly burbs, Willow Grove actually, that started getting wise to what's hot in the speculator world and would put limits on certain books that took off moneywise (though they're not too bright because I snagged a Sixth Gun #1 in their $1 bin). Nowhere Men #3 is a good example. There wasn't a sign up, I tried to buy 5 copies and they said "oh we can't let you have all of those, they're out of print".

Well, the store now had a stack of 20 or so copies of NWM #3 bagged and boarded and priced at $9.99 each which won't be vanishing anytime soon.

They also put a 1 per person limit on the Death Of Robin issue and while they didn't up the price, they still have a buttload of them left.

Will they all gradually sell to people walking in? Maybe. With no limit, or even a 5 per person limit, will they have sold of of them at cover 2 weeks ago and made their immediate money, which is the point of a business? Definitely.

Huge Image day tomorrow! Peter Panzerfaust, Todd, Walking Dead, Nowhere Men, Manhattan Projects

Great Larry! Thank you.

Quick question. Why do you think Marvel Point One will be of signifigance?

I believe it's the first appearance of the new Nova.

It is but the variant is the one you want.

I'm not going to cover variants.

Larry -

One quick note....

Hulk 271 isn't RR's 1st Appearance.

Everyone (including MARVEL) except CGC acknowledges it is Marvel Preview 7.

I may start a top ten magazine list, but I'm sticking to comics for now..

1st Magazine Appearance - Marvel Preview 7

1st Comic Appearance - Hulk #271

Indeed.

I'm aware.

I'm ONLY covering comic sales right now.

maybe I'll do aq top ten magazines in the future.

Magazines ALWAYS seem to get the snub from my customers.
