The Mattena variant is some sort of a rogues gallery cover. Those tend to do well long term (ie Tec 566, flash 155 etc) but just not my cup of tea

Very good point....but people were also commenting on how the regular cover was sold out at a lot of places too.

There have been a number of television announcements this week: (1) Ice Cream Man; (2) Sweet Tooth; (3) October Faction; and (4) Warrior Nun Areala are all in development.  I have seen these comics dry up on eBay and then 24 hours or so later become available at an increasingly rich price tag as sellers unload copies.  Universal Cable Productions who also developed Happy is developing Sweet Tooth and Ice Cream Man (which is apparently being written by the duo who developed Sneaky Pete).  Warrior Nun Areala is owned by the same parent company that owns the beloved comic news website BleedingCool who has already run a lengthy story about this Netflix project and October Faction (also in development for a Netflix original).  There's been a lot of spec heat on Ninja High School issues 37 (and 38).  I have not done enough research but it appears that the Warrior Nun chararacter first appears in NHS 37 and not in issue 38 and that the character who appears on the cover to issue 38 is a related character but not Warrior Nun (who I think is named Shannon).  The consensus appears to be that the Warrior Nun first appears in the ongoing series and that her real life persona's first appearance is in NHS 37.  That being said, people still argue on here about Hulk 180/181, and I'm certain that this will be an opportunity to bicker if this title takes off.  There is also a Platinum Cover of number 1 that is limited to 5k copies and an ashcan that predates the first issue of the series.

Batman: Damned has maintained its eBay prices.  Apparently Azzarello was in Baltimore signing books at a hefty $50 a book pricetag which didn't slow down his line.  The announcement that DC will not be publishing a second printing ("at this time") has driven sales which peaked over a hundred dollars.  Prices on the SDCC retailer proof variant continue to soar.  Carnage appears to have replaced Venom at the top of the spidey spec heap as fans continue to find bread crumbs left by Woody Harelson which they believe indicate that he will be making a cameo appearance in the film and its prospective sequel as the black and red serial killer.  I have no idea about the veracity of this conclusion.  There's been some buzz about Morbius the Living Vampire to the extent that Sony has stated that he will be the next property featured in a recent press release about Jared Leto embodying the character.  This is old news for many, but the recent press release appears to be driving new interest in Amazing Spider-Man 101. Buzz over the Eternals hiring a director continues to move this title on eBay; sales have been strong and show no signs of slowing down.  Similarly, we've seen renewed interest in Birds of Prey related comics as a result of casting decisions made by Warner Brothers.

Oh sweet. I just literally bought the original art pages for the 1st appearance of Caleb in Ice Cream Man #4, (A suggested pickup for the Comics buyers here).

For reference:

"So, you mentioned Caleb before, the mysterious man in black who seems to be the opposite of Rick. Can you give us a sneak peek into the history or future of Caleb and Rick? Will there be a rivalry?

There is most certainly a rivalry.  All I’m at liberty to say now is that Rick and Caleb have known each other for a very long time—possibly longer than the world has existed."

There is no "big 2 that get optioned." They're both corporations that already own the rights to their characters. (With some exceptions that won't be resolved through options)

In the film industry, an option is a contractual agreement between a potential film producer (such as a movie studio, a production company, or an individual) and the author of source material, such as a book, play, or screenplay,[1] for an exclusive, but temporary, right to purchase the screenplay, given the film producer lives up to the terms of the contract.

When a large studio options something obvious (like Superman, Batman and so on), they probably hired or contracted a writer to write the screenplay or teleplay. If they like it, it gets optioned. That still doesn't mean they are going to make it. That company may own the rights to the characters, but they don't own the work the writer did until they option it and pay him for it. An option is usually a decent sign that something will get made (coming from a big production company that can afford the resources), but as we have all seen, it can take a long time sometimes to get on the development slate or also just fall off it altogether.

Very under-ordered....especially for a Deadpool book.  This one snuck up on folks right up until a couple of hours ago.  Online shops even had a good chunk of inventory available for cover...MCS shows that they are still available for $10 right now.

Thanks again, to this site, I was able to get an extra one from my LCS.  Only one left.  Interesting to see the variance of prices on ebay.  Anywhere from $8 to 20$.

What's this matter to Moderns Heating Up?

I was just responding to the conversation. I was just amused by how people think they know what they're talking about. lol

Btw, I was pawing through the bargain boxes yesterday at the local LCS, and a 16-year old comes in and starts talking about how they just optioned such and such . . . hilarious.

Warrior Nun? I couldn't those away. What's next Lady Pendragon???

I think I kept some of the Sweet Tooth I had. I always that it would get optioned but don't think it will ever see the light of day.

115 what? Did you get caught in the eBay click to sold item like I always do? The linked item was for a CGC 9.9 Lethal Protector that sold for just over $1k.

Ah, I see. Ebay is messed up. It led me to a listing where the guy selling 9.4 or 9.6s for $40-50 USD each and it said he had already sold 115 of them. The link now takes me to the 9.9 listing.
