Question about the X-Men #25 Black & White + Gold Edition Variants

One sale doesn't make a trend - even more so when that single sale is the highest ever recorded for that book in that grade :gossip:

I know one sale doesn't make a trend, but I've always thought this book should sell for around $200 in NM/MT condition. So it was nice to see that one sell for that price hopefully 9.8s will keep selling for close to that price or a little more.

Based on what? It has never been a particularly hard book to find neither raw nor slabbed, and with the census showing 117 copies in CGC 9.8 versus the 21 copies the B&W variant has, I'm much more inclined to consider this a fluke.

Yes, it's a semi-key with a 600,000+ print run for the regular edition and god knows how many for the gold and b&w editions.

I don't want to go all GPA on ya, but the gold edition is the one that comes up for the sale the most. And with 117 CGC 9.8 copies in the census, there's more than enough supply to keep the average price in the $70-80 range.

But I guess we'll see when the next copy pops up - my money's on a sub-$100 sale.

Well we should be able to find out pretty soon as I'm sure more will pop up on eBay with that one selling for just a little over $200. I think the next one will end in the $120 to $160 range as I know a couple people who have already sold CGC 9.8 Gold Variants for those prices this year.

Raw Copies have picked up a little bit over the last couple months as they've been selling for around $30 to $50 Delivered on eBay.

Hi Guys and Gals! I just signed up here on this forum. Have been reading posts for a couple months now, and just decided to Create an account today so I could let you guys know that I was the guy who just bought the CGC 9.8 X-Men #25 Gold for that price of $126.15. I had been reading this forum topic while I was waiting to bid, and I feel like I got a HECK of a deal.

I would assume that this issue will go up in price, as soon as collectors realize that the print run was less with Gold Variants than B&W Variants.

I think the main reason that the B&W Version is selling for more is because of the DEMAND for that Unique coloring of that version. It just looks awesome with that color contrast!

I would still probably pay a little more for the Black and White Variant, considering that I haven't seen it listed in a 9.8 very often...

I would also assume that ALL COMICS in general are about to have a renewed interest in collecting, due to the release of so many awesome Comic Book movies coming out, which is sparking interest up for collecting comics again!

So you have the Dynamic Forces signed variant also?

The Dynamic Forces signed copy isn't a variant it is just the regular edition signed and COA'd by DFE and would be GLOD. But, yes I do have a raw one and a copy of the news stand edition if you want to call that one a variant as well.

somebody is actually using this particular thread as a reference to their ebay auction...

take a look:

oh... the POWER WE PLAY WITH

Don't know if I would use a thread that says this book is over rated for the gold cover lol.

I know... people would believe anything that's writen in the internet......maybe we should start writing that WD #100 IS THE BEST COMIC BOOK EVER... and that one day it'll be at par with AF #15 and Superman #1.... it'll send your kids to college, and make you mortgage free....

but then again we already have a ton of WD threads, don't need to add another one.... or do we hm
