hmThere are so many kinds of [font:Comic Sans MS]kewl when it comes to comics. These take me back a ways...

Obviously, the nerdy geek on the left isn't as cool as Al, but just being in the picture raises the [font:Comic Sans MS]kewlness factor...

And then there's Schomburg's MM#66 recreation, which pegs the scale in [font:Comic Sans MS]comic book kewlness:

This book defines cool for me on several levels. The book combines my enjoyment of Science fiction, space monsters, and the early 50's look. Even the lettering of Spaceman as it decrease in size from left to right lends a sense of scale to the cover.

Then there is the menacing nearness of the space monsters to the rocket ship.

Surely they will overrun the spacemen blasting away at them, or will they.

I like the choice. If I included all eras, I might pick Nick Fury #1. First complete issue by Steranko and a killer as well.. I was dying to have this book when I was in my teens and still love it today.

"Hey that's a cool book" is an oft used phrase around these parts, often about books that are relatively obscure and/or scarce. "Cool" often seems to bypass grade and monetary value....

Hre's a recent acquisition from Mr Bedrock, which I'd say now becomes the coolest book I own:

..and why is it cool in my book - and I suspect many others as well? Well, it's very scarce for one thing - we all know that. Black cover, unique imagery for it's time, and powerfully expressive, like Expressionist Cinema.

So, what are the coolest books in your collection would you say, and what makes them cool?

I gotta admit. When I scrolled down to look at this cover I actually said 'Wow' out loud. That is a cool cover.

Cowboys, Science Fiction and Nazis.

Doesn't get any cooler. I do not have a copy of this book ( :baiting:), the scan came from Hepcat, with suitable appreciation:

I wonder if that might not be an Okajima.
