Saw a Famous Funnies foreign Frazetta today. THAT almost started me on a foreign collection....

 

Thats cool, you should find a cool Frazetta foreign! (thumbs u !m warnin ya though.... this niche can be hard to stop once it gets hold of you! :screwy:

This is a Batman from Italy's Williams editions. Cool book, I am sure Vaillant has more information about it.

first, let me make a consideration: I do not see foreign editions mainly as "reprints": correctly speaking re-prints are further editions of a publication in the same language they originated.

Most of what we have showcased here are first foreign editions, or first editions in other languages. This goes for every production, no matter the country.

Even Australian or English editions aren’t – strictly speaking – reprints, although they can be considered as such given there is no translation involved.

 

To reply your question: you have got to thank lscomics, which pushed me into a little research (I have very little knowledge of DC editions, as I am not a DC reader.)

Side note on the foreign editions of european material in asian and eastern countries:

 

- it is not unusual at all to find a publication of Mickey Mouse and any other Disney characters in those languages. The universal vocation of Walt Disney's poetics made this a natural transition. Our own national school of Disney authors is one of the most renowned worldwide, and between 1939 and now has produced thousands of original stories, some of which do not pale at all side-by-side with the finest masterworks from Floyd Gottfredson, Carl Barks et al.

 

- Tintin, Suske & Wiske, and many other cornerstone titles of the french-belgian production have been published in almost any country (including Tibet).

a small masterpiece (in Italy we have unfortunately had just 6-7 stories of Bob & Bobette, so I had to chase for English editions, and the original French/Flemish ones, although I don’t read those languages).
