Ran across this DOCTOR FATE story in ALL-STAR #21 by Joe Kubert...

I didn't remember him ever working on DOCTOR FATE.

:headbang: That surprised me too. I liked the work he did for Harvey and DC...and I picked up a few issues of Tor. I need a copy of All Star 21. Pretty sure I don't have one or at least one with a cover.

While going through my FOUR COLOR COMICS I came across #173 FLASH GORDON

which stated on the cover "Introducing for the first time...FLASH GORDON COMICS

especially written and drawn for this book."...would this make FC #173 the first original

FLASH GORDON COMIC?

Also, the back cover contains the last page of the story.

This was a title that I didn't see too often...only able to find it at the train station.

Did you collect the Shadow? Did you have a Blue Coal Ring?

I think the Shadow was so popular that people were buying pulps and comics as fast as they could make them. Supersnipe was a spin-off series that seemed to attract the kids (and moldy old comic book fans like myself).

Was that by Norris? Since it was the first original it should get more attention. Too bad they didn't use Mac Raboy who was working on the Sunday pages.

I have about five issues of THE SHADOW...again not always easy to find. As far as the

collectable Blue Coal Ring...don't remember it being offered. Don't have any copies of THE

SHADOW COMIC that contained any SUPERSNIPE stories but did have issues featuring old

Street & Smith pulp characters like DOC SAVAGE and NICK CARTER.

While going through my box of coverless comics, I ran across a copy of

DYNAMIC COMICS #16 with a YANKEE BOY story about the sale and

use of "marijuana"...interesting how the subject is handled.

Found this one mixed in with my coverless comics, only MAD that I ever bought...

read a lot of them aboard ship as they were passed around...almost forgot I had it.

Nice books Marty. I like the issues with Powell art. Supersnipe was in Shadow Vol 2 #3 and he was fighting the German...measles. Nice story that ended badly for Sup if I recall correctly.

Going through my box of remainder comics made me think about buying

these issues to read, with very little concern about the missing third

of the cover...who knew that all these years later this missing portion

would mean anything.
