It's been 294 days since I CGC received my Economy submission. The date is based on workdays (excludes holidays and weekends). What's a reasonable amount of time before reaching out to request a status?

It has been pretty spot on for a "year's time" even including weekends and holidays. Peoples from last December are shipping, and my October last year came back to me this October etc

In the "good old days," circa 2015, as I'm certain many have posted and/or remember, I vaguely recall receiving my "slow track" Economy tier submissions in approximately four weeks. Alas, those days may be forever dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.

Signature Series Modern Slow Track - 14 books

  • Sent by facilitator so no idea when they were delivered
  • 11/30 - Received
  • 11/30 - Credit card charged
  • 12/1 - SFG
  • 12/1 - GEI
  • 12/1 - Grading/QC
  • 12/2 - Shipped

Super fast but the grades were highly disappointing. Perhaps damage occurred during the signing. Will know more when they arrive.

I have another Modern SS order that was received on 11/8 (after pressing) that’s still in SFG so the quickness above balances out lol

Tier (also list FastTrack where applicable): Modern S/S FastTrack
TAT as of Receipt Date: 10 days
Number of books: 1
Shipped to Sarasota: 11/16
Received by S&R: 11/19

CGC Entered/Received: 12/2
Verified: TBD
Scheduled for Grading: TBD

Graded: TBD
Shipped/Safe: TBD
Received (by owner): TBD

And thus the waiting game begins.  The only reason I did FastTrack was because I thought turnaround times were long and I wanted to ensure the book made it back to me in case of a celeb signing I'd like to have added to the book at a future date.  Looks like I could have saved myself a few bucks by going normal speed.

Does anyone have information about how much time PRESCREEN - MODERN adds to CCS TATs?

Do they prescreen and then press the most likely candidates or press, prescreen and then send the books within the desired range for grading?

Thanks, all!!

My October 2022 Economy FT submission is now back in hand.  Here are the vital stats:

  • 2022-10-14: Accepted by USPS
  • 2022-10-17: Delivered to CGC
  • 2022-10-18: Delivery Confirmed by CGC
  • 2022-10-26: Status Marked "Received"
  • 2022-10-26: Status Marked "Scheduled for Grading"
  • 2022-11-21: Status Marked "Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging"
  • 2022-11-28: Status Marked "Grading/Quality Control"
  • 2022-11-28: Status Marked "Shipped"
  • 2022-12-05: Delivered to Me (via FedEx Ground, which is what I selected on the submission form)

That's exactly 52 calendar days from raw-in-hand to encapsulated-in-hand, or 28 business days under the sole control/custody of CGC (for anyone who's counting).  As a reminder, CGC's "estimated" TAT on the day I entered into this "contract" with them was 20 business days.  Much better than my most recent Aug 2021- Sep 2022 Economy ST/Non-FT fiasco (400 calendar days or 270 business days, as documented here).  (thumbsu

On a positive note, a visual inspection of the encapsulated books and a review of the associated Grader Notes reveals that the books are in exactly the same condition today as they were on October 14, 2022.  In other words, the books were handled with sufficient care.  Furthermore, the labels are 100% correct and each book looks fantastic in its holder.  (thumbsu  (thumbsu

On a slightly less jubilant note, CGC whiffed on the PQ of my Phantom Stranger #2.   Both PS books came out of the same Colorado collection, and both books have snow white pages (with no hint of a toning).  Judge for yourself -- five PS #2 interior shots, followed by five PS #3 interior shots:
