01TheDude
I was a Marvel only collector as well but could not resist the chance to buy the occasional #1 book off the rack. BL fit that area of my collecting back then. Still have it. An the wonder twins-- as camp as they are--- are widely known by many people. Who hasn't occasionally thrown out a line about "Wonder Twin powers activate!"? Mostly I knew it from the tV cartoon.

The Less Blob
I have fond memories of Black Lightning because they were pushing him hard in the 40-cent comic era, right when I started reading DCs as a kid. He may not have had a regular title for long, but he was a regular backup feature in the dollar-format Detective Comics (some great sleazy depictions of late-70s NYC), and popped up seemingly every other month in Brave and the Bold and DC Comics Presents. Look forward to seeing what they can do with him! I was a Marvel Zombie in the 70s and 80s other than NTT and an occasional cool looking Batman. NTT... If you were going to make exceptions, those were the ones to make. And I got those fancy paper reprints of the Adams GL/GA issues and thought those were pretty cool too. scooter99
Pretty tough book in 9.2 or higher. Only 40 copies in that grade block. I assume the print run was pretty low compared to mainstream hero books back in 72.

Night Nurse has always been a tough book in grade, it's appreciated with every sale in GPA, across the board, over the years. Dunno of any other rumors, didn't even know of this rumor intil I saw this post. I had a 9.8 copy of the 2015 Night Nurse #1 in my $5 boxes at a show last month, guess I shoulda pulled it. Some wankjob has a CGC 9.8 (2015) listed at a $499 BIN on eBay...gotta love the nerve of some people. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIGHT-NURSE-1-CGC-9-8-CULT-CLASSIC-MINISERIES-SOLD-OUT-FIRST-PRINT-/191798397486?hash=item2ca8134a2e:g:UIQAAOSwqv9V6ii0 That said.... Comics4less auctioned off a raw 7.0 copy at $242.50 2 months back, so a slabbed 9.2 at $700 sounds about right to me... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Night-Nurse-1-1st-Linda-Carter-Fine-VF-Cond-/142036354918?hash=item211206c766%3Ag%3Ak98AAOSwzJ5Xboi5&nma=true&si=5SXDnvVqUluJPTZlasJ7VqrZ3AY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

People can ask whatever they want, if that's what it's worth to them. If it's not worth that to buyers, it won't sell. Simple economics.

GeeksAreMyPeeps
Black Lightning TV show is being shopped around http://www.ebay.com/sch/Bronze-Age-1970-83/12590/i.html?_from=R40&_sop=1&_nkw=black%20lightning%201%201st&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Wouldn't they first see if he is a popular guest appearance guy in flash/green arrow/supergirl first? This is a pretty obscure character. Heck, when he was in the Superfriends in the late 70s they weren't even allowed to use his name for some reason and called him Black Vulcan. I wouldnt call Black Lightning obscure more than I would, say, Wonder Twins.. And look at how much their first appearance is going for. TV show or not, this character is well known among people my age, I loved BL as a kid, more than I did Black Panther or Luke Cage, which I think were the only 3 major black characters on the DC/Marvel universe... Even Falcon didnt have his own title in the 70s. Why did Black Lightning not receive as much attention is beyond me My introduction to comics was through a science fiction/comic store where I used to get my Doctor Who stuff back in the '80s. I ended up getting a bunch of free comics at one of their trivia contests (when I got a free book for each of the Doctor Who companions I could name, and I knew them all), so I decided to sample some other books. One of my first purchases was the first 7 issues of the Baxter Outsiders series. It became my favorite series, so the Outsiders (including Black Lightning) were some of my favorite characters and will always hold a special place in my comic memories. I wish I could have met Mike W. Barr and/or Jim Aparo before either of them passed away. It would have been great to have signed copies of my original books. 90sChild
the comics4less sale prices are mind boggling to me. They must have amazing customer service and extremely strict grading, because they very frequently sell raw books for the same price or higher than a graded copy. The Marvel Premiere #10 I wanted which books somewhere around $30 or so? sold for $60+ shipped today.

The Marvel Premiere #10 I wanted which books somewhere around $30 or so? sold for $60+ shipped today. Might be a bit of collector solidarity since the C-4-L guy last month suffered a well-known theft of major comics, including e.g. AF15 etc. Or maybe it was swell of 'summer over' buyers? Or maybe the books on offer were well-timed for demand (like Doc movie coming soon)? But c4l has sold plenty of books at good discounts from guide - twice in past few months I've won 10-20 books from c4l, and he is a reliable/winning dealer, and most importantly accurate grader. But I paid well below guide on my two big rounds I bought (bunch of Thors 127-151 at $11 for VG/F to $20 for F+; XMen 11 VGF $64, #16 & 17 F/F+ at $56 & $42; Avengers 9 VG $93, 69 VG+ $22, 77 VG $13, 85 VGF $18, ASM Ann 1 VGF $260 !). I suspect the Kamandi 1 at $32-something was good timing luck of seller (with a lot of similar era DC #1 in decent grades) and not indication that it's 'hot.' The Less Blob
Isn't $32 still way under guide for a VF? I know guide is nonsense on that book, but still...
