With that said, no reason why it can't be, and continue to be, a $50-$125 raw book with higher upside in 9.8land if NTT # 2 is now a $100-$150 raw book and lord knows what Hulk 271 is now and that was a 50 cent box book 2 years ago.

I haven't seen Star Wars #42 sell for $50 let alone $125 in NM raw. There are copies right now in eBay which are going to go for less than that. (shrug) Or maybe you are talking about another book? hm

There are several more raw auctions that ended with best offers that might have exceeded the $50 (how do I look at the best offer price?), but outside of the 1 above, the rest of the issues went for under $50. There are many more copies that ended besides the ones I listed too. A CGC 9.4 copies was sold for $76. The average price for Star Wars 42 in NM raw since March seems to be about $35.

And you seem to routinely have problems with reading comprehension. :roflmao: Don't worry though, it's usually not genetic and it isn't contagious.

(how do I look at the best offer price?),

Click on the listing to open it. Next to the listing title in small print there is text that reads "See original listing". Click that. Scroll down the new page and look on the right side opposite the photo gallery for the listing. You should see text that says "Print | Report Item". Click Print. A new window will open showing the accepted best offer price.

Sounds like you contradicted your own argument. There are plenty that sell under $50, but here are over $50, lots are slabbed or in lots:

Seriously, I think as the internet has evolved to the degree that it has, the distinction between dealers, specualtors and collectors has blurred significantly, if not entirely. Anyone can buy and sell. People choose their own labels as to what they call themselves. And, ownership by its nature, is transient.

:golfclap:

Well said. We are all probably a little bit collector, speculator, dealer...

The desire to give everyone a specific group label and than blame that group for all the woes of our hobby seems a bit silly. :slapfight:

I'm not sure how I can contradict a statement that says I haven't seen any Star Wars 42 NM *raw* that sold for over $50 on eBay. (shrug) But, it does appear that a handful of issues have sold for $50 - 70 raw. I'd like to see the NM raw that sold for $125. CGC 9.6 has just recently been selling for that price and slightly more.

Regardless, I am glad to see upwards movement on any Marvel Star Wars issue. :cloud9:

And thanks to darkstar and ygogolak for the information about looking at the accepted prices. Prior to yesterday, I thought eBay had taken away the completed listings search. I thought it was in the normal drop down years and years ago, but I could be mistaken.

One thing I think is interesting here is the number of slabbed copies to raw copies being sold on eBay. At what price point does a comic become desirable to slab before selling? It seems Star Wars 42 has hit a price that makes it worthy of slabbing, but the number of slabbed copies sold on eBay to the number of raw copies is still very small.

Maybe the ratio has always been small on hot comics. I'll be honest, I haven't typically collected comics that are hot and are rising in value. Just curious about what others experience is.

in addition some BINS at $60 and $65, some very close to $50....some of the other $50+ sales were paired with 68, i had not paid attention

anyway, my wording was off, i was not claiming it is a consistent $50 book, but it certainly seems to be getting there and i think when it does it will go up more and stick

with that said, despite a magazine box worth of star wars books, i don;t own this one. i don't think it is actually so easy to find in $1 and $2 boxes, otherwise I'd have one as I have multiples of most of the others picked up that way.
