Well, outside of prostitution no.

But sex does get people's attention (your thread proves it ), and thus improves the chances of a sale.

The more people that click on an auction,the greater the chance someone will buy it.

Sex sells, but badly Photoshopped Ebay listings infringing on other peoples' photography does not. Interesting idea, but executed as expertly as a Craiglist ad.

 

Remember the guy who posed his "girlfriend" with his WD books and then jumped online pretending he was a she? Now THAT is dedication to your sales tactic.

I read a while back that before youtube changed their methods for what ends up in the sidebar that "answer girls" - young women showing lots of cleavage, would post short pointless responses to popular videos and actually make a living on the click throughs - the thumbnails frequently just showing the cleavage.

 

So I guess the answer is - men are pathetically predictable, and will in greater numbers check out any link with an attractive girl in it - or better yet - boobies.
